Not to be a nag of little details, but the 48 hours over 7 days should maybe be stretched to 9 nine days, so there are two weekends in there a person can choose to build on. Or a different mission on each weekend

Two week-ends? We're slowy losing the "Fast" Challenge. :/
I suggest that the contest may stay like Antimatter_16 has imagined the stuff with only 1 week-end.
Let's do this for fun and not seriously.
The only missing things to launch the contest, is a confirmation from Antimatter_16 on my questions:

no base? no set of multibrush? and no links to get some packs?
I want to help you in the contest if you want, if you think that you won't be free... The only problem is that I WANT to be challenger in such contest...
So, If I understood correctly... We start when we want?
You say I'm in, you're put in the list, and your timer is launched?

I think 9 days may be better. That way people who can't work on it the first weekend can sign up for the second.
The way this would work Firemage, is that there would be a 9 day period during which you would declare when you wanted to start work on your mission, and after 2 days your time to work on the mission would end. For example, Let's say the contest runs from the 1st-9th. A mission author could declare he wanted his 48-hour period to begin on the 3rd and end on the 5th. Another author could declare he wanted to begin work on the 7th, and end on the 9th.
I think I'll throw together a VERY simply mission base for Thief1 and Thief2 though.

Alright! ;)
It sounds very good! :thumb:
Let's do this!
Let's wait for the 1st August :D

So just to be clear - we're ok to start assembling assets for this contest now?
Renault on 8/7/2013 at 18:51
Also - is this just a "fun" contest to see what people can come up with? Or will we have voting, categories, prizes, a winner, etc - all the normal things involved in a contest?

In my concern I'll prepare textures, objects and sounds from my upcoming missions before I begin the contest. This way I'll just have to focus on building the mission and develop its gameplay.
And I'll probably start saturday 3rd.
Will the base mission contain brushes already ? Or will it be an empty cube with a couple things set up, like objectives for example ?

@Sliptip
Sure, I'll give this a green flag, and I'll officially accept the responsibility of running the contest. I'll make an official announcement tonight or tomorrow. (Should I do that in the editor's guild, or the FM forum?) Contestants should announce their participation in the announcement thread.
Contestants will choose a 48 hour period between August 1st and 11th, to work in DromEd on the mission. A empty mission base will be provided for T1 or T2 for the author to use. After the elapsed 48 hours, whatever state the mission is in, it will be zipped and sent to me. On August 11th, I'll post download links to all submissions, and people will be able to vote for the one they liked best.
As far as assembling resources in advance, you can use anything you want except multibrushes.
As far as voting, categories, and prizes, well, I have no idea. I was thinking we simply have a single poll where people vote for a single mission they liked best. Something tells me some more categories would be welcome though, so I'd take suggestions. I'm afraid I can't offer any prizes though, unless someone wants to volunteer a prize, and the responsibility of getting it to the winner.

Sounds great! I'm really looking forward to this. It'll force people to really plan their mission in advance (namely me! :joke:)
