Actually, I'm not an RTS fan, but Empire At War seems ok to me, the little bit I've played of it.
Still, Steatlh+Star Wars plz. And I'm not talking that lame ass shit from JK2.
You know, I have been meaning to give that game a go for a while now. I just didn't have the damn hardware to do it. I really should grab Empire @ War once my queue gets under control. I see it @ Walmart for like $10 all the time.
Stealthy Star Wars sounds interesting as Hell. I would love to see UbiSoft or someone else with some experience in the genre give it a go.

Well, what made me think of doing a Thiefy Star Wars game was basically the way Obi-Wan and Luke are portrayed in the original trilogy. The part on the deathstar with Obi-Wan sneaking around wouldn't happen in a game or in the prequel films, the Jedi would just break out a lightsaber and start slashing fools. From a game mechanics standpoint it's not really hard to see how Thief could be made into an SW game, either. Lightsaber instead of a sword, force powers instead of arrows, etc. Instead of noisemakers, for example, you'd point at the wall and guards would look in that direction wondering what they heard. I think it could be pretty badass if done well.

If I were to make an SW mod I'd give the stormtroopers inaccurate rifles and armor while the rebels would have more accurate rifles and one-shot deaths. Especially if they're going for the feel of the original movies, which seems to be the entire reason for making a Star Wars mod rather than say, a random sci-fi blaster mod.
That's the movies and it's lame as hell how nobody in the imperial clone army can aim. Did they get that army made at a discount than the republican one? And especially for a multiplayer mod, why da hell would they purposely imbalance it?
You don't do that in a game. The movie feel is not suitable for vg. And what you said about how "it's the entire reason for making a SW mod" is just lol. No, it can be anything, it can be sw tetris or it can be sw tetris with some creativity thrown in (or just something creative). SW is a theme, a layer of graphics, a tool to be used.

Well the video looks very pretty, but it's just a shame they're playing boring old CTF with no gameplay changes visible at all. Something a bit more Team-Fortress-y with some teamwork and tactics would have impressed me more and probably felt more like Star Wars than a bunch of reskinned soldiers jumping around Mos Eisley.

Assymetrical doesn't mean unbalanced. There are tons of ways to balance a game where the sides don't have the same weapons, health/armor, or numbers.

Which is the precise reason most SW games suck. The ones that don't suck tend to be the ones that use the property in a good way, rather than just reskinning an existing game.

Insurgency for HL2 was built on this. If you want straight up, coordinated team play, join Marines. If you're more of an individualist, join Insurgents.

Asymmetry is in the setup, abilities, equipment, perspective. It's not in something as fundamental as aim. If a mod messes around with the aim where one side's aim is true and the other is purposely made to miss, then it's the silliest way to make a game conform to another medium.
And yeah no duh, the theme goes along with how well the game utilizes it to its own purposes.

I'm not talking about making their aim worse, I'm talking about making their blasters less accurate. Which is precisely what Jedi Knight/Battlefront did.
Seriously, there are few things Jedi Knight 2 did really well, but the weapons were one of them. The rebel blaster with it's slow firing rate and weak strength vs the stormtrooper blasters which fired faster and were inaccurate unless you fired one shot at a time (and, at the same time, were probably the best weapon in the game until you get a lightsaber and a sniper rifle).
The bullet physics in CoD games are terrible nonexistent anyway, and it seems like they're going for a basic reskin of CoD, so I wouldn't expect any kind of spread for the blasters, but it would be a lot more immersive.

yea and everybody had access to both weapons. it was up to you to pick which
that's nothing like in the case of one side having weapons that doesn't hit where you aim. people would just stack the other side and the whole game would be fcuked
