Just curious, but has anyone been working on any patches to allow cooperative play, for any of the Thief releases? Thievery was pretty fun, but they only released a handful of missions/maps, so that didn't last very long. Never was much into hack-n-slash, deathmatch stuff, but coop play is incredibly fun, when possible. With the vast wealth of FMs, new, old, and those to come, a coop multi-player patch would be wonderful. Since SS2 uses the same engine as T1, I always wondered why that multiplayer patch wasn't ported over to Thief (not that it'd do any good for T2 or T3, but it'd be a start). Hell, I'd actually pay for one if it worked on T2/3. :thumb:
Heh, just for giggles, I'll share one of the highlights of our (my buddy Nexis and I) coop shenanigans while playing Thievery. Having guards wake up again was a lot of fun, and one of the few things I thought would be good to implement in Thief. We began looking for isolated areas, like a closed room with an open window, an upper-story window that opens onto the roof, or a section of fence at the city's edge where crates could be stacked to get near the top. Then we start blackjacking guards and tossing them into one of those areas where they can't get back out. Absolutely hilarious once they've all woken back up. Imagine standing there, ruling the territory, while a dozen guards are shaking fists at you, screaming for blood? lol Silly stuff, of course, but fun, especially when everyone's wearing headsets so they can talk while working together to complete the mission.

Yeah Theivery rocks like that.
Well someone was going to make a new front end for the Thief 2 data, but that project seems to have died. If it ever came to light, that would probably be the starting point for co-op on the existing Original Missions and Fan Missions.
Good news is that The DarkMod should be a lot easier to mod it to support Co-op, and some people might convert the popular old Thief 2 OMs and FMs over to DarkMod.
I want to play co-op on Calendra's Legacy :)

I probably sound really stupid but I'm somewhat new to this forum and....what exactly is Thievery? Is it an offshoot of Thief someone created?

Thievery is a modification of the original Unreal Tournament. It's a Thief-based online game, in which one group of players take on the role of thieves, and the other guards. The Thieves have certain objectives that have to complete, and the guards, wel.. they have to stop them :p. It's a really fantastic mod, and has pretty much everything you'd want in an online Thief experiance -

If you have the original UT, definatly give this a download. Be warned though - the learning curve is pretty steep.

I've never even heard of Unreal Tournament, therefore I don't have it. But the Thievery thing itself sounds awsome:-)

Yeah it's pretty fun and most of the people are pretty nice. :)

Well me and my 3 brothers just play it on our LAN. We've found that the online players are waaay too hardcore for us - those thieves are freeking ninjas - one time my brother was a guard, standing around with a bunch of other guards, standing in a circle around their supply chest to guard it, and as an extra precaution, had piled all manner of wood planks and junk all over it.
Before anyone had time to react from the shock - a Thief had jumped down from god knows where, plucked each junk item off with inhuman rapidnes, grabbed the chest, and darted off into the shadows. The guards gave chase but it was too late. My brother didn't - he was just standing there in awe.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the theivery site - to playThievery you need to patch UT to a specific version, not the latest.
