The task list is in the 3rd floor broom closet, at the west end of the northern hall. On the floor is a box full of soap. On the task list, it even says to get the soap in the closet, because they want a fresh bar.

Thank you very much, but I'm afraid I'm going to need a direct spoiler DN (or anyone) please. It's been so long since I
got the task list. I THINK I got it from behind the front desk where all the keys are, but there is definitely no soapage there. I found the second crawlspace also (that is how I transported the passed out drunk guard) that leads way up high in the Ivory hall which leads to the Monarch Suite which left me locked in (no key) with no choice but to fall down and take some damage (with guard in tow). Obviously I missed some other way to the Captain's office. I hate to sound like a moron, but could you (or anyone) please give me a bit more of a nudge?
The soap is in the closet on the 3rd floor. It's a tiny room that is just below the Duke's Suite on your map, basically it's right at the end of the corridor.
You can exit the Monarch Suite the same way you entered. Once you're back at the big shaft, just position yourself to fall onto the ladder that you originally used to climb up the big shaft. Then jump to the opening - the one that is sandwiched between two parallel slabs of metal that have seen better days. I hope that makes sense, but there's only two ways you can go from there.

hm i have the same problem with the silent agents too, they don't report after 4, 7 or 60 minutes :(
but i had another strange thing happened too. i never found a broken or defect fuse BUT when i flipped the switch for the elevator a second time, the objective checked off and i didn't understand why...maybe this is the reason why there isn't any new report?
Turcaill
ps.: but anyway, i enjoyed playing this mission so far and i'd like to give it a new try if anyone tells me, where the broken fuse can be found?

Thanks DN, that's all I needed. Finished with 6463 out of 8385. Wow, lots of loot left, but I'm guessing it's mostly in the combo-safe and Captain's office. I can't imagine there were many places left that I hadn't found. All objectives completed except for two copies of notes I'm sure I read at some point but forgot to copy.
Thanks, that was great! :)

elkston, am I right thinking that before one gets his/her gear the game is totally safe?
The danger area seems to be while Dante, Steel and Stone are doing their tasks. I do not recall anyone experiencing this bug after stone reached the vault.
Bear in mind that most time there is between messages from the other agents is 9 minutes. But, usually it's around 5 minutes.
So if you go 10 minutes or more with no messages, it's broken.

What's this task list all about? I've read the note about a guest wanting to take some soap home and I've been in the janitor's closet with the box of soap several times, but the only frobbable (is that even a word?) thing there is a duty roster.
I don't understand why some people get some objectives and others don't. Is this FM that buggy or is it just completely different based on what difficulty level you use? I often find the easiest difficulty rather challenging these days, especially since I don't play games nearly as much as I used to.
Here's an idea to add to the hopefully upcoming patch: add a few health potions. Not all of us are super-thieves who never take damage. One health potion is not enough for such a large mission, especially when you have minimal health to begin with.
I can't count the number of times I've fallen from a ladder in the OM's and countless FM's because of Dark Engine's buggy ladders. And mantling sometimes isn't much better. There's always an odd place or three where Garrett/Dante/whatever simply won't mantle (though he tries) even though there's nothing stopping him, and he's done it successfully (and effortlessly) many times before. Then the poor sucker falls and takes damage all because the game's engine is nuttier than squirrel turds.
Just the other day, while playing the Bank mission in TMA's OM, every time I'd touch a wall in the shadows, Garrett would take damage for no reason. Crap like this is why we need health potions. If you can't fix the engine, then provide the means to counter it.

CaptSyn,
It's the grating further east. Climb up there after moving the furniture, and you'll find the key on the ground near the edge of the grating.And...
You never got the conversation where Rubber returns and asks you to complete his rounds? Without the two above issues, you won't get into the Monarch's suite.
I finally found the vent key and the gear behind the vent. It was very difficult to see the key. I checked that very spot at least 4 times before I found it.
And no, I never got a conversation where Rubber asks me to finish his rounds. He mentioned needing to do it and almost getting caught, and I think it was Steel who took on the task, but there was no option to accept or not. Dante automatically chose to return the key without my intervention. I just sat there listening to the conversation, and the next thing I know, I have a new goal.
I don't know for sure which suite I got into on my first play-through, but the only way to access it was via the vent behind the casino bar and I had to climb high up, use a vine arrow to get on a fallen catwalk, climb up some more, then climb in a window. There was a gas arrow on a narrow ledge, and a copy kit with someone's scribbled out suicide note next to the vent. Inside the room were 3 or 4 guards, plus a bartender.

Heeding your request for more health potions!
I have a thought - In the options menu, under game, do you have auto-equip turned off? That would prevent the new dialog options from appearing. You would still get them, but you wouldn't see them pop into your inventory.

Rubber's tasks are separate from the goal of returning the key. It's impossible to reach the end of the mission without reaching the juncture where Rubber asks you whether you'll complete his errands, so you must have told him "No" without realizing what you were doing. All areas of the mission are open to you regardless of what objectives you choose. Only the order and difficulty of reaching them changes.
Also, please add spoiler tags to your posts, CaptSyn. You're leaving some important spoilers in plain sight.

Guys, what about the problem that I am having regarding objective 'Wait in the Ivory grounds until told to leave'. I have been waiting there for such a long time. Even restarted the game & checked that I have the right gen.osm but the objective is not ticking. :(
Digital Nightfall on 17/8/2008 at 04:18
varunb, can you explain to us the point in which you never hear from the other agents again?
