I thought it was ridiculously over-the-top difficult at first too. Then I discovered that I could go get the lightswitch key early on, and after that it was only challenging instead of frustrating.

Actually, there is a subtle point about the mission's structure that is easy to miss. MX has several central "hub" areas connecting to many locations, most notably the Mahogany Hall (spanning the top three stories)... but unlike many missions, where you use a convenient central hub as a place to stage forays into dangerous locations at the edges, in MX the hubs are the most dangerous places in the level. They're convenient for the AI too! In MX the peripheral areas of the map tend to be the safest, and if you adopt the strategy of keeping to them (with the help of the vent key), while traversing the central areas only when forced, you'll find that you'll rarely have to deal with more than one AI at a time.
Of course, once you get the lightswitch key, you have the run of the place.

This still leaves 720 loot missed. No idea where it could be, as there isn't a door, chest, or other furniture that I haven't opened, and there's nothing left laying around in the open.
We really need a loot list.
You said you opened every door, how did you open the
small room door on your left when you exit the crawlspace to enter the Monarch Suite?
Did you find the ring on the floor on the right side of the right bed in the room in the corridor with the drunk guy?
CaptSyn on 20/8/2008 at 02:26
I just bashed the door with the dagger. As for the ring, no I didn't find it, but I know where you are talking about.
Also, the staff only door in Stormcloud's Clubhouse I've had to bash open the last 3 times through cause the key is nowhere to be found. The first 2 times I played, I'm pretty sure it was on one of the guards in the clubhouse. Might have something to do with the key problem in that area. I've noticed one guy gets stuck in a table.

Yeah, I thought I was just being stupid and or blind when I couldn't find the clubhouse key.. I had bashed the door in just to check it out, and while being chased by guards I noticed a floating key.:weird:

Curses, if only I had it early on.... I only got it after being told about it by comm mask when I was already close to it, on the third floor.:(

Raputo's personal body guard has it. He is in the Garden at the big meeting. I recommend a moss arrow & an invisibility potion. Or you could just bash it down!

@The Mike.
As for your other question....
The security office can be accessed via Stormcloud's Club house.
The Monarch suite...well you have several options. The most elegant is to nick the key from somebody while performing another one of your mandatory objectives.
Of course you can just bash down doors but that's the amature option. :cheeky:
Wait...you can bash down the doors in this mission? Wow, I feel like a total ass using all those keys now. I'm totally replaying this mission and making every locked door my bitch. :ebil:

There are multiple ways to do many things. Discovery of a new way is freedom!:D

This mission made you think. This wasn't the standard, we had to get used to it, play it, adapt to it, and we did. It taught us to be better thieves, better players, up the ante. Everything should not remain the same. In that regard, I think the mission succeeded very well.
Kyle Kellahshehskee on 20/8/2008 at 05:26
I am only one hour into the mission, and I had to stop to write you a HUGE thank you! :D
There's simply no question that everybody who contributed towards this mission poured a ton of love into it, and am I grateful for it. I'm not sure that my wife will be, but if she'd only get herself into the casino, I'm sure she'd see more of me! ;)
The level of detail is just stupefying. The textures are flawless, and I had to chuckle when I read the note of irritation that was left between employees that accompanied the stool. Now who hasn't had something similar to the above happen to them in real life? Including such subtle nuances simply amplified the level of immersion to a totally astonishing height.
One of the earliest comments that I read for this level was something along the lines of "...this FM reminds me of the 'Ocean's Eleven' series of films..." and I have to totally agree with them on that observation. I'm in so much suspense that I'm having a hard time breathing!
The communications/spying mask is an ingenious device, and it completely opens up brand new levels of Thief possibilities that I can only hope are integrated by future mission makers.
Before I go, I have a question in regards to the patch that's underway: will it be compatible with previously Saves? Because if not, I'm tempted to stop right now before I get too deeply into it, and then have something spoiled by a bug that's still creeping around.
Brilliant work! Thank you again!
Kyle
