I am going to ask the obvious question before we launch into bug speculation. Sorry for getting into the "did you check to make sure it's plugged in?" territory.

You used the keychain to unlock the vent.
You then put away the keychain and used the vent again to open it. Yes?

Unlike most doors, the vents do not open when you unlock them.

Yes sir, unlocked vent (CaClick!), put keys away and CHACHUNK, hmmm, get keys out, click vent with keys (CLICK!), put keys away and CHACHUNK, repeated a few times on all the vents I tested. I figured I was just doing it wrong. :)

Okay. A beta tester had a similar problem. Try copying all osm files (I believe NVscript is the one but do them all to make sure) out of the mission zip and into your Thief 2 folder and overwrite the ones that are there. I think that's how he sorted it out, but I'll double check too. Reloading a saved game should let you test it, but if it still doesn't work start a new game too and try it that way.
