Hi folks!
I've had real problems with my PC since my last post when I was just about ready to get T2 re-installed. Well, I've only just now got into a position when I have some free time and a working computer and I can't remember how to use Darkloader.
I've got everything installed and set up and I can remember that I have to set up my folders and click on install and all that. But now all I get is the Cosas intro logo before it switches to a black screen showing....nothing! The CD whirrs...the setup is, er, set up but no banana! What am I doing wrong?

Nope, still completely dead!
This is a totally fresh new install as well and I just used the latest patches. Haven't a clue where I'm going wrong....???
Edit - I just checked it by booting up with the original missions and it's not even loading those either....?!? Everything else on my PC is working fine.

Nope, still nothing. Suggestion 2 leads me to a Microsoft page where it searches for codec updates. I would tend to think that I have every single codec known to the world of computing by now but this led me nowhere. I couldn't find the codec via MS at all. So I downloaded the Indeo video codec elsewhere and ran the exe file. It started, it initialised and then...nothing happened! I ran it a second time...same thing!
I don't have a dual processor or P4 so that rules out suggestion 2.
And I followed the instructions for suggestion 3 by removing the semi-colon as stated but again, no results!
I'm just about to read through DDFix so maybe there's something there that can help. Will report back soon!
Edit - Okay, I started using this thing but then it asks me to open 'Thief2.exe' using a Hex editor....what the hell is one of them and why do these fix solutions always automatically assume that you know what you're doing working around software issues?

Hi Ibsen's Ghost. I suggest getting the GUI version of ddfix. You don't want the hex one, as it's a pain and you don't even know how to do it from the sounds of it. Go (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) here and download GUI version. Extract contents to your thief 2 directory, and then open ddfixgui.exe
Set things how you like it, and then 'apply' the patch.
How long has it been since you've played thief 2? and are you on a more modern computer? I ask because it sounds like you haven't played thief in a looong time. Modern computers have a lot of trouble with thief/thief 2, but ddfix comes to the rescue for issues like missing fog, no stars, etc. in thief 2. Also, it would help if we knew your system specs.;)
