I am going to ask a very embarrassing and stupid question:
How do I get the CoSaS patch to work? :(
I downloaded it, but what do I do with it? It doesn't seem to help the original in any way and I keep getting the same bugs. I figured I'd ask it here, since I can't seem to find the CoSaS patch thread.

Oh, that's it! I didn't recognize the title. . I was sure it was called something else. . oh well.

Hi Ibsen's Ghost. I suggest getting the GUI version of ddfix. You don't want the hex one, as it's a pain and you don't even know how to do it from the sounds of it. Go (
http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) here and download GUI version. Extract contents to your thief 2 directory, and then open ddfixgui.exe
Set things how you like it, and then 'apply' the patch.
How long has it been since you've played thief 2? and are you on a more modern computer? I ask because it sounds like you haven't played thief in a looong time. Modern computers have a lot of trouble with thief/thief 2, but ddfix comes to the rescue for issues like missing fog, no stars, etc. in thief 2. Also, it would help if we knew your system specs.;)
Thanks sNeaksieGarrett,
Sadly, it still isn't working and I last logged in here ages ago. It's only now over the festive period that I've had time again to try to play this.
My problem is that I click 'apply' and I get this message:
"Unable to find any occurences of DDDRAW.DLL in Thief2.exe
Please download a pre-patched exe"
I have absolutely zero technical expertise. Does this mean I'm stuffed?
btw, my system specs are:
Microsoft Windows XP SP3
Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz
1.50 GB Ram
80 GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GEFORCE 6800 GS
RealTek AC'97 Audio
I've upgraded my graphics card and standard memory since my last play on Thief (which was probably at least 2 years ago now...).

I had a similar issue with the manual patch, and just used the pre-patched version, and it worked no problem.

hmm, that's strange... Yeah, I guess try the prepatched exe? Perhaps your version of thief 2 doesn't have ddraw mentioned. The way to check if you feel comfortable doing it, is to download XVI32, open thief2.exe and do a search (using search tool) for ddraw.dll

I just started playing MX last night & I'm blown away by, well, just about everything about this mission!!! It's taking me a little time to get used to 'new things', but so far I like it.
Unfortunately I feel like a total noob because I'm stuck early on in the game. :( I've chosen to disable the power to the elevator, but don't know where to find the broken fuse I need to replace the good fuse. Anybody know where I can find that item, please?
Also, the game has frozen just a couple times and I'm wondering if I should download the vers. 1.13 and just start over? By 'frozen' I mean it's totally seized-up in whatever screen I'm in and I have to do a hard reboot (won't even let me eject the T2 disk); after which my desktop is all wonky. No biggie, since it's only done that maybe 2-3 times so far. So before I go any further I'm wondering if I should uninstall the original MX and install the latest version?
Thanks in advance!

Hint:
At least on the lowest difficulty setting, there is a note somewhere (I think it´s in the basement) that tells you where to look. Outright spoiler:
Find a toolbox in the room on the ground floor (room is next to the kitchen) where there is a lot of stored furniture. Toolbox is by the shelf made of metal.

I don't recall any problems with the first release freezing up but then again it's been a while since testing. But yeah...I'd DL the latest version. It was updated for some reason. You can play through the begining quickly enough for sure.
