Well; I finally got around to playing MX in its entirety. I am truly blown away by nearly everything about this mission. I admit that it took some getting used to when early on I realized that I had to discard my usual 'Lone Gunman' attitude that most of us adopt while playing any of the Thief games or FMs; that's not what this mission is about at all. I don't think I fully understood until I watched the final credits (my Lord! It read like a feature-length movie!!) and saw that one of the inspirations for this outstanding work was Mission Impossible. That explained it all for me (yeah; sometimes I can be a little slow on the uptake;) ). Plus, I'd read very little about this mission while it was being developed because I didn't want to ruin anything for myself (I also refuse to watch previews of upcoming movies/TV shows, etc. for the same reason).
Playing the game (initially) as a team member wasn't something I was used to. It was interesting, no doubt about that; but I found that at times during the beginning (until my fellow agents had all accomplished their missions and left the building) I would get seriously distracted by the 'chatter' and found it difficult to pay attention to whatever I was focusing on at that particular time. I kept looking for a way to either turn down the volume or turn the sound off entirely, since the dialogue was flashed on the screen anyway. That particular frustration didn't last overly long though, and then I felt free to explore and persue my objectives. (I think I scared my cats out of a year's growth a few times when I jumped straight in the air because one of my fellow-agents' voices startled me while I was totally focused on something else! ;) )
The other frustrating thing was the guards with the unblackjable helmets. I'm not a fan of forced ghosting, so trying to find ways around them was a lesson in frustration for me. I have to admit though, that not being able to KO or easily kill every single AI in the mission forced me to slow down and actually think and not just blast my way through without stopping to really enjoy the mission. I am, however, sincerely grateful that there wasn't a blanket 'No Kill' objective.
Taken for what it is, Mission X truly is an outstanding accomplishment. It would be unfair to try to compare it to any fanmade missions because it's definitely in a class of it's own (as is T2X). Having spent the last four hours (almost) totally immersed in the mission, I can sit back now and say that I really did enjoy it tremendously (even though I'm staunchly a sword-as-opposed-to-a-dagger-person :p ). The graphics, textures, sound, and plot/storyline were fantastic. I'm thinking of going back and choosing to shut off the security cameras next time around. And the desire to immediately replay a mission doesn't happen to me very often.
My thanks and praise to all who were involved in creating this remarkable mission. Worth the wait and very well done indeed!!!

P.S. If anyone happens to have a spare recording of Saturnine's voice just lying around can you forward it to me please, 'kthnxbye. ;) :cheeky:

Thank you Dia. Sometimes I look back on MX as something that was more torment than it was worth... but then posts like these make me change my mind. :)

You're more than welcome, Digi! I can only imagine what you and all who were involved in the MX project must have gone through for eight years! My thanks and appreciation are genuine and sincere. And you, sir, deserve a well-earned rest!
Note I said 'rest'? hint hint hint ;)
P.S. And thanks for not including zombies/haunts. :cheeky:

I know I found this before, but I'm trying to replay this mission and can't find all five copy kits.
1) You start with it
2) In the foreman's office
3) In one of the upstairs offices on a desk
4) On a ledge overlooking the Ivory Hall
5) ???

Hello,
I've downloaded this mission three days ago: while playing expert I've shut off the cameras control, yet after a big while lights are still on in the basement: so I don't know whether I have to go exploring the building via the talls, or to wait more for Steel task completion ...or to think about a bug...
I've been missing from Thief gameplay for 2-3 years, so I am not up-to-date with tweaks or improvements (T2 1.18 installed with Darkloader 4.3 and widescreen patch)
thanks

You will need to wait for Steel to finish his task. While you are waiting, you can explore through the talls. There is a walkthrough linked in the first post, if you get totally stuck.
Enjoy!!

I'm sorry I did not mention it: I had already read the walkthrough and roamed through the talls as well (after shutting down the cameras), yet after an hour the lights are still on, that's why I was wondering whether I missed something or that's the way it is supposed to be

It shouldn't take that long. If you haven't heard either Steel or Sheam say anything at all lately, I'd say start over. Sorry!
