This is incorrect, what shadows posted. At least for my game it was. The key needed to open that door is found in the head accountant's office on the 4th floor, and its hidden behind a painting as well
Im at the end of the mission (8040 out of 8385 gold), I think Im good as far as finishing this map. Just a few things left unclear:
-I have this Stool from near the start of the game, some girl who was apparently too short needed it. I have still yet to find a use for it besides placing it on the ground near a ladder (where you moved some furniture) to get into the vent system. Making that jump to the ladder takes a few tries, with the stool, its very easy. But, is there any other point to it?
-There was a doll i picked up in a room, and i placed it into the baby crib it was next to (then you cant select it anymore). Just wondering, did this have some purpose other than putting it back in the baby's crib?
-I knocked out all the guards inside/outside the Monarch room. When I deliver the lockable scrollbox, obviously nothing happens since theyre unconscious. I read a few comments on here saying to "follow" him, but since I cant, what exactly happens when you do? I mean after he collects his men? Where does he go, and how do you go about copying this final and most difficult page which only comes to exist once this happens? Id like just a transcript of what happens and how this copying text thing can be done. And anything else which happens there. thanks ;p
-Last thing to the devs: What is the easter egg? Can you please give some good clues of how to find it? Only this easter egg is left to discover for me. Please ;)

Stool: There is a box on top of a wardrobe just two rooms away from where you find the stool. Although it may be possible to pick the lock on this box (e.g., while jumping, maybe) without using the stool, it is much easier if you stand on the stool while doing it.
To find this room, stand in the room where you find the stool and face the window, just like some poor clerk before (does that ring a bell?:ebil:). Then, turn left and leave the room. Go ahead until you have just crossed another corridor (an intersection, to be exact), and go through the door to your right. In the far right corner of the room you should find the wardrobe with the box on top.
The doll: No, the doll can only be placed in the cradle, and that's it. One of the mission designers wrote that it was some kind of an experiment.
The scroll box: If you deliver the empty scroll box by placing it on a table there (and not being seen, as you're not exactly the one supposed to bring the box there;) ), and retreat into hiding again, the captain of Raputo's personal guards should appear and take the box with him.
More about the scroll case? Okay, here we go... The guard captain walks through the building and enters an office upstairs, where a scroll is placed in the box. The captain then takes the box again and takes it with him.
At this point I'm not exactly sure what must be done, but I think you have to trigger something. The clue to that is to be found somewhere at the bar not far from the toilets where you picked up your gear at the beginning of the mission. I think there's a scroll somewhere on a table at the bar which tells you when Raputo's guards are supposed to leave. You have to trigger this.
Still want to know more about the scroll box? Read on, then. Once the guards begin to leave the building, the captain should do the same, but he will stop on another toilet for... well, whatever you do on a toilet. Since he needs both his hands to accomplish his deed there, he will leave the scroll case on a sink there for a short while - just long enough for you to pick the lock and copy the scroll. If you have a copy kit available, of course...
After that, piss off before the captain finishes pissing, discovers you, and becomes pissed-off in the process.:cheeky:
If you can't get the scroll while the captain defecates, follow the captain on his way out and blackjack or K.O.-drop him. I did this in the courtyard outside the Ivory Rose. You can then pick the lock on the scroll case and copy the scroll without a tight time limit.
Now, what's so important about the scroll in the case? The scroll tells you and your comrades that a raid on some hideouts of Master Nightfall's organization will occur tonight. Since you acquired this information without being noticed (at least if you picked the scroll case while the captain was emptying his bladder), Nightfall's group is able to hide somewhere else that night without arousing anyone's (e.g., Raputo's) suspicion. With a bit of luck, Raputo will think that the reports about Nightfall and his merry men (and women) are unfounded - after all, no one knows you copied the scroll, so how on earth could Nightfall have known of this raid?
I have lost all interest in the easter egg long ago and can't tell you much about it. You are supposed to somehow acquire a scroll which contains something like quotes of the developers of the mission. Since I found the appropriate text file among the mission's files on my hard disk, I stopped trying to find the egg as soon as my frustration reached a critical level.

Thanks for the replies, about the lock box in the grechemer's room, the way i simply opened it was if you close the door to his room, there is a small gap between the drawers and the wall, if you stand there and face the drawer you can pull yourself up on top, and crouch and walk over to the lockbox. So i never had much need for the stool except for getting into the vents maybe.
AH, the easter egg is one of those types, stuff from the developers. I was never really interested in those kinds, more the kinds where you discover a super secret hidden part of the level, such as the "giant size" trickster's area in Thief 1, now that blew my mind! ;P

This has a nicely designed building, but it's a bit of a dog's dinner of a game. Very stop-start, with too many guards. I've nearly finished all the objectives, but can't say I was very enchanted by the mission overall. Not much of a Thief atmosphere to it really, but there are some pleasing spaces to explore.
