Pity there is so little cover and shadow in most areas. Stealth is often reduced to pure luck and regular busts and quickloads. I've given up on trying too hard and mostly cross my fingers and even resorting to blackjack and dagger. Not enjoying that aspect of it and if it was an average FM I'd have abandoned it by now but there is plenty of interest and innovation in this one. :thumb:
I wrongly trusted the clue info management. This was a big disappointment because I've always been interested in new ways to provide optional extra help but here, not all important info is going in the notes even on Expert. AFAIK it's all working technically correctly but from now on I'll be quicksaving any comms activity and keyword searching the .str files for permanent prints. :)

Wow, I just looked at the title. Hard to believe Mission X has already been out for two years! Its definitely a mission that never feels to get old.

Are you talking about the automap "hints" not recording all of the information given in the dialog? Just out of curiosity, what bit of info went missing?
daniel, I can hardly believe myself that it's been this long. I still have <strike>dreams</strike> nightmares about working on Mission X.

And to my knowledge the solution to the easter egg still has never been revealed ... :)

Pretty sure I've mentioned it somewhere. When you first go into the room with the keypad for the security system, look at the numbers already on the dial. Then make your way to the switch room after Stone's completely finished her work. When flip each switch the number of times of the corresponding number. Poof!

X.
Sorry, missed your above post first time around. I'm a bit hazy now as I've moved on to other FMs. I felt I kind of finished the objectives but didn't leave so I may go back to this. I probably missed a ton of stuff but I kind of lost the plot sadly.
As I recall I was faced with an objective 'return key to Cloud' and I had no info at some point other than that. I think I was still pre-occupied with the 'switch off elevator' objective. I think there may have been a mask and it may have timed out (?) because I wasn't ready to ask the question. I vaguely recalled 'key in theatre' and 'climb up' so I was looking to climb up outside to get to the theatre. I struggled to get into something called an observation (?) room on the east side thinking there might be a balcony but just kept getting busted because of the lack of shadows problem. I do remember wishing I could read/hear that clue again in case it wasn't the theatre! Also when I finally got into the theatre wished I could read that clue again.
I found some (real) scribbled notes I think I started later when I realized not all clues might be stored but I can't remember if they came to anything:
"cameras shut off every 15 seconds"
"closet end NW end 3rd floor has duty roster"
"duke's suite - count benedict > miss Angel note"BTW I did add some other notes to the blank note pages in the game but later realized this was reserved for an upper floor auto map so that got a bit clogged.
BTW2 I did inventory player notes in Night Watch which I think was partly inspired by GATI. And I'm currently looking to implement player notes in Dark Mod. I think the idea of auto storing optional hints/nudges is a good one for when players get stuck.

Hello!
Is this a bug? Look at the sky!
I have the latest ddfix and latest widescreen patches installed as well. Also, before ddfix the sky was correct, but I read that Mission X is good with ddfix. Other FMs are working!

OK, I've run up against a game-breaking bug that doesn't go away by restarting.
Yesterday I was in the basement and had swapped out the fuses. Guard flips the switch back, the fuse starts to explode... and the game hangs and crashes just as I get the option to report success. Opened Thief 2 up again, reloaded, the same thing happened over and over.
So now, whenever I try to start fresh with a new mission, I can't even frob the fuse box at all- it highlights but nothing happens on right-click.
(EDIT: Probably unrelated, but I'm having Ticky's problem as well with the sky running ddfix and widescreen.)
(EDIT again: The fuse box's failure to open seems to have something to do with a script failing to load- if I use the non-ddfix/widescreen exe, I'm back to the crashing problem.)

I'm still using the last version of DDFix that I released (1.4.5) and the sky at the location in the screenshot seems OK. I switched the DDFix dll to the latest (1.5.9) and saw the same sky issue as the screenshot.

Excellent mission. And concept as well. The team-game is something really out of the box! (out of the box for Thief world, not for other games, of course).
I've played on expert. I read in the walkthrought about Rubber's chores, but I haven't the opportunity to accept them? Is it something only for harder levels?
