Cradle. Dear God... - by mol

I don't think I'm ever going to sleep peacefully again. I'm... Oh, dear God, I'm freaked out of my skull. Cradle -- what a sick and twisted name for this place. This is what Hell must be like. If you're a borderline case, this'll push you over. If you're stable, this'll push you to the bordeline.

On my second replay of the Cradle, I almost quit the game, because I knew what was coming. It is even worse after you have been there before.

amen to that... it is far worse the second time

This single mission is enough reason for buying TDS. What an amazing scare! :eww:
null did an amazing job with this mission, although you couldn't pay me enough to spend one night in his head, watching his dreams. Mine will be disturbed enough for a few days.
This is the "Return to the Cathedral" for TDS. A singular defining mission which takes its place among the great ones.
Now I have to review my scary upcoming mission (for T2) and see what I can change. I've been both humbled and inspired.
Alfred Hitchcock would have been proud.

I think it was the "neverending" part about Cradle that made it bad, aside from the Murus's daughter issue. It's like 4 missions in one. 4 full length missions, from all the tension. Coupled with the new zombies that move like a cheeta, the mission is t-e-n-s-e. There's tiny little victories that are soon eclipsed by the next objective or it's path.
It's an emotional roller coaster, and the ambient sounds certainly don't help your stomach any.

Hahah. I remember when
I went up the attic and heard that knock. I said to myself "Nothing, NO ONE, will make me open this door!".
But the second part is much less scarier IMO... just use a few fire arrows.

Agreed Lurox.

My favorite parts of the Cradle are actually a few of Garrett's quips. The one about the blood vial being warm or if you go back to the storm cellar entrance.. even he sounds a bit rattled.
