Cradle is cool (but scary  ) mission, I've managed to complete it in Easy, Normal and Hard, not Expert yet. Best played with headphones/5.1 surround sound system at night.
When my friend played Cradle for the first (and last) time, he didn't have any idea how scary it was since I didn't tell him. :ebil: He's always been afraid of missions with undead. So he played it to second part of the Cradle (took over an hour to get there, over 20 presses of esc because was too scary and brightness level was 25) and then quitted and he said he will NEVER EVER again play it. And he didn't play it ever again. :nono:
Heh, here's different story not involving Cradle, but undead:
My friend visits me often and in Finland and especially in winter there's extra dark really early in the day. Like at 8.pm it's a miracle if you can see anything inside your house if lights not turned on. So, he's always been little scared about my hall because it looks like there's someone waiting in the front door (it's only jackets&stuff that makes scary shape... :laff: ) Anyway, I made small mission with T3Ed that looks JUST like my apartment and I made it really dark and added one of those Cradle 'staff-members' patrolling the area...Then I told to my friend it was little mission about my home, no AI in there.
He believed it and it was pretty scary already (atmosphere, sounds) and when that staff-member opened my room door it was time for quick ESCape, if you know what I mean. I laughed and he never played that level again. :ebil:

I had heard alot about the Cradle before I actually came to play it....
I still remember the first Puppet. I ran through some doors (just after the sudden Puppet who runs behind the counter) thinking I was chased. Then I saw that..... thing. By a cell door. It noticed me and started to walk towards me really slowly. I was like 'Ok, that's scary, but not as scary as I thought it would be'. When the Puppet was about 13 feet away I readied the dagger for some stabbin' action. Then, without warning it made this incredibly terrifying bloodcurdling shriek and the next thing I knew it was standing right next to me, twitching to no end.
Now that made me and my friend stop playing for a couple of hours.

*shudders*
I think I'll get a friend over to play that level with me this weekend... I'm almost there. Just one or two levels, and at the rate I'm going, they'll be done pretty soon.

(tot) Wouldn't it be great if you actually could play Thief games in tandem with a friend? Especially a level like the Cradle! I know it's not possible, but I've often wished someone could create a Thief multiplayer FM. My husband & I used to have so much fun playing that kind of game with our PCs networked. He won't play those anymore with me, though. It's all because of this AVP demo we had; the one mission where we played special ops guys on a bug hunt. My husband had the particularly bad judgement to continuously jump into my line of fire. What the hell did he expect would happen? (He claims I kept shooting him on purpose. Go figure.) Anyhow, I think it would be so very cool if you could play in the buddy multiplayer mode in some of the Thief FMs.
Scythuz: You need to get your mom outta there! Bad things happen to people in that place! :wot:

Try THIEVERY. A multi-player mod. A search here on the Forums will find a link for you.

Great, I'm at that level right now. I'm too scared to go in:eek:
EDIT: I'm in the inner cradle. Talk about freaky. This place reminds me WAY too much of House on Haunted Hill...

I just beat the Cradle :cheeky:
On Hard, that is. I didn't want to spend all the time needed for Expert over there...
The part that, strangely, scared me the most? It's when you're in the outer cradle and you hear the loud bangin on the door. You think "there is NO WAY I'm gonna go in there!" but you know you have to and pick the damn lock and you go in and....
There's absolutely NOTHING there. Eep?
...I'm sooo chicken

But you BEAT it, right! We're mostly all chicken here when it comes to the Cradle; you're in good company! :cheeky:
P.S. I dithered around at that very door for what seemed like an eternity.

So far the scariest part for me was
the part where you hear the banging on the door to the attic. I have a walkthrough but still I was like 'don't make me do this...look what you've gotten yourself into now, Garrett!!'
Also when I came across the first puppet...I had to take him out with two fire arrows because I hate those things so damn much. They're too freaky to get close to, but I'll have to eventually. I only have 4 fire arrows left.
Here's a screenshot I took of the attic. I just thought it was cool;) :(
