LittleTaffer?
For the love of the Builder, never EVER make an FM.
Or a fan fic.
EVER.
Anywho, back to less-scary Cradle stuff, I just visited King No One's cell for the first time. Freaky taff right there.
LittleTaffer on 9/3/2006 at 16:12
Bah.
Just because I made a resident hypothetically slap Garrett's butt?
That's bloody unfair! :D

I'm waiting for the "Return to the Cradle" FM :D

:laff: I actually think a fantastic FM would be a cleaned up Cradle. Where you play as a thief sneaking in during the final days before the fire - when it was still full of children, doctors, and patients.
And LittleTaffer, it's completely fair. To all who don't ever want to imagine the situation you described or anything like it involving Garrett ever again :p

OOh! Ooh! I found a way to make the cradle waay less scary...
The commando-style approach, Go in all weapons blazing, blasing the hell outta anything that comes your way! Well, now the only problem is when you run outta ammo...
GYAGH!
Got myself a Cradle scare. This run through, I've been going to places I haven't visited in the Cradle yet, basically trying to cover every inch.
One of those places happened to be Cell #7. I never went in there because I knew there was a Puppet in there. However, I figured,
Hey, there might be good loot in there!
So I unlocked it. But I didn't open it. Instead, I backed in the shadow near it to contemplate how to open it without drawing attention from the inmate inside. Then something I didn't except happened. The Puppet inside the cell OPENED the door.
Obviously I was freaked that somehow it knew I was there, but instead it walked away into the next room. After a few seconds I followed it in, only to find it wasn't there. It was a dark room, sure, but I didn't see it standing around anywhere. And there was no way it had gotten to the next hallway that quickly. But I checked anyways and nope, wasn't there either. So I kept thinking,
Where the hell did it go?
Then I got a bit freaked, and slowly turned around. There, on the ground, on it's knees, with it's head on the floor, slamming it's fists into the ground, was the Puppet. I was practically STANDING on it and it hadn't noticed. I'd never seen this kind of behavior from a Puppet before. It almost seemed sad about something.
So I silently slipped away. I suppose I'll check on it in a bit. Thought that was a bit freaky though.
LittleTaffer on 10/3/2006 at 03:32
*shivers* That WAS freaky! Though you gotta admit how brilliant the AI is that the Puppet actually opened the door by itself and wandered out.
Hmm..maybe it was really lonely and figured Garrett might be a sympathetic listener to its woes? Or on the extreme end, maybe it was Catholic and wanted a confession? (sorry all you Catholics, bad joke, i know :cheeky:)
And I still don't see what's wrong with my Garrett-butt-slap hypothesis. :ebil: I am certain that, in the right circumstances, Garrett has the ability to squeak like a little girl.
:joke:

Let's hope that we never find out WHAT causes him to do that :p
Anyways, I observed the Puppet some more. After slamming the ground for a while, it gets up. Seems that after you unlock Cell #7, the Puppet within begins a regular patrol route. It leaves the cell, goes and slams it's hands into the ground in the room next to it, then walks over to the door that leads to the treatment rooms, then back to her cell.
And there was some nice loot in the cell after all!
LittleTaffer on 10/3/2006 at 08:28
That makes it all the more intriguing. "She", you said? Treatment room?
I can see a story about the Puppet forming already.
And NO, it will not involve butt-slapping Garrett, so there. :ebil:

Well, about the "missing resident", I have another version:
In the east of the Halls of record, there's a passage leads to Morgue, right, and at the corner, I find a resident, I just wanna find out what will happen if I shot a moss to him, and when I did it, it just gone! Well, I mean, he just walked east(And there's a ladder or somethin', too scared to notice.), seems no where it could go, but when I check there, there was nothing, and nothing at the corner, queer indeed.
