Cradle. Dear God... - by mol

Me?
I've always been playing normal... I figure I'll play higher difficulties one of these days. It'll be at least somewhat easier if I already know the game well.
I just finished the Cradle. Got hurt at the end because Garrett had a serious case of nerves and wouldn't jump out the damn window... Oh well. I'm just glad to be OUT of that Hell hole (again).

In Expert mode, there are more Puppets (obviously) and Staff. ESPECIALLY in the staff tower. In normal, I only remember there being one staff member at the table by the window. In Expert it's a god damned party. 6 or 7 of them just sitting there.. discussing how best to botch their next operation.

I played in normal both times and there are a *lot* more than just one sitting there - there were no less than 4, at least. I flashbombed them all so I could get by.

I shot a fire arrow and the Thing's retreating back. It shrieked and I shot another one. Did it die? No. It came running straight at me. It took all my courage not to reload right there.
Yeah I played the Cradle again the other night. It took all my energy not to reload right into my shorts. I was picking a lock and I heard something hit the door so I stopped. There right in front of me was an inmate looking right at me through the window. I knelt in front of the door, ready to pick the lock, and he just stared at me.
We sat like that for five minutes before he took off. I saved and got out right there and went and hugged my dogs. I've never been so scared in my entire life...

I love the cradle. It and Bonehoard, the Cypt mission in T2X, and Christine's Falcon "Midnight in Murkwood" are a joy to play.
For another scarey mission try the FM "Dyer's Eve".

Played it again, not feeling so scared this time.:thumb:
Just feeling those mental undead..... somehow... annoying:sweat:

I think King No-one is now very hurt by what you said. He claims hes not annoying... just eccentric :laff:
Okay, to all those planning on using mines, find yourself a good hiding spot in an out of the way place. One badly loosed mine can send half the patients straight after you, and seeing as they move so damn fast, you want to be hiding pretty quick

I miss my sword ...
Why must they give Garrett a toothpick of a dagger? With the sword in Thief 1/2 a decent fencer stands a good chance of going toe-to-toe with a guard or zombie. You can't parry for your life with the dagger ... though it was fun to backstab the asylum staff ghosts with it ...
