Cradle. Dear God... - by mol

I agree with you on that one, tiger; I also definitely felt a pang when the little girl finally found the release she so desired. But that one heart-touching moment is still not enough to make me go back there.
Nope. No way.

Can't believe I'm replaying it from the saved point where I'm already done with the Cradle :(
Coward me :p
Dia on 30/3/2007 at 13:41
Not cowardly, dear; smart!
I lost all my saved games in a pc crash, so I'll have to start from scratch. Tried finding a 'skip level' cheat, to no avail. Probably why I'm hesitant to start it again. Now that's cowardly! ;)

If a savegame needed, let me know :)
Dia on 30/3/2007 at 18:40
Thank you and bless your sweet heart! I think I'll go ahead and start from scratch. Since I know what's coming, it should be easier the second (third?) time around.
I'll let you know, though, in case my feelings change when I reach the Cradle.

Excuse me for asking. . .
But has our beloved Cradle ever been slightly user-modded?
(Btw, I've played and enjoyed every T3 fan mission from here.)
Cheap Thief Mission Downloads
(

(Or is "The Cradle" too much of a "sacred" T3 level to ever be touched?)
And, of course, I could see problems with adding too many normal NPCs, that could easily disturb the Cradle's well-tuned balance, especially concerning its classic "fear by isolation" effect.
And who, in their right mind, would even venture into such a place?
(There was that "dared man", but we know what happened to him, don't we.) :ebil:
So, would Garrett only find a crafty and brave thief, like himself, within the walls of the Inner Cradle? And I was thinking of just one Keeper Enforcer, like those spooky and dangerous ones within Krellek's Labyrinth. (And his mission might be to simply research the Crypt, for the Keeper's almost infinite need for information about their current problems?)
And if this Enforcer only takes out one or two Puppets, before he is dispatched by them, then there's your "random game-element of chance" with its new and hopefully surprising "adjustments" to our basic game challenges, perhaps? (And, of course, he has to be disposed of, rather quickly by the Puppets, in order to not become more like a "built-in team mate" and thus destroying the game for our player.) :thumb:
Well, there are some T3 FMs with music/sounds from The Cradle, but I guess that was not what you wanted. :p At least they touched her sounds.
By the way: Do you say
it or
she? The German translation for cradle is a feminine word, so everytime you talk about the Cradle you cannot leave the thought that the Cradle is feminine.
tiger@sound.net on 4/4/2007 at 02:15
Thank you, Beleg, I have notice that Cradle music in the FMs, also.
(I do minor modifications with UnReal maps and any really good background-sounds are very difficult to leave alone.)
But, I am not setup for a quick little test of simply adding one Keeper Enforcer to the center of the T3 Inner Cradle map. . . (And for all I know, it simply might not be allowed by either the map or by their map-editor as another "special creature" or that it might just cause some runtime problems, later?)
And then, there are testing-problems, where a Keeper Enforcer might simply be too weak or much too strong for the Cradle's Puppets?
(Oh well, don't pay any attention to this silly little idea, T3 folks.)

walking away from my pc muttering fervently, 'It's only a game; it's only a game...

And I "borrowed" that T3 idea and re-used it in a Postal2/AW "Zombie Break-in" demo map. . . (And to continue, with details, would be way off topic.) But even "classic ideas" should go on, well beyond their origin, to me. :thumb:
