Cradle. Dear God... - by mol

I have to say that I played the level in afternoon with all the nearby lights turned on. The only time I have had to stop playing a game, because it was too scary was in Half-life (the first time you see the dog like monsters), but then it was 9pm on winter (when everything is pitch black in here).
I knew it was going to be scary, but before I entered the cradle I expected to find hordes of zombies and haunts and then some puppets that someone said to be there (thought them to be some ghost type things on beds). I was surprised to see something like those things. I was well prepared, but I left the cradle with only three flashbombs and one or two holy water bottles.
After The Cradle, Return to The Haunted Cathedral seems like a picnic with teddy bears, doesn't it?
BTW: Did anyone else notice how unscary the haunts were in this game?

I love Undead missions. Though none reeeallly managed to scare me so far, as in quickening my heartbeat rate, or generally inducing panic. Inverted Manse was a very good FM, but it still didn't quite scare me fully, from what I read here, "Cradle" just might be what I'm looking for. ;)

Just finished the cradle.
It got a lot less scary once you had it all figured out - and the black staff weren't as freaky as the inmates.
But I'm a bit shaken and full of adrenaline at having completed it, that
final dash to the window...did anyone else jump over the table and just run?? I couldn't see any other way to tackle that table full of staff.
I just lobbed my last 3 flashbombs over there, which took out all but one of them, and then ran past him and jumped out the window.

I thought I had knocked down an 'Electroid Zombie' (my name for them) and that it would not rise until I walked near him. How wrong I was, I had just finished reading a note at the bottom of the collapsed nursery when I turned round and bumped straight into the very same zombie I had stabbed to pieces moments before. It this point I was freaking out more than ever. I thought I had just got to grips with the atmosphere only to find out that the Electroid Zombies wake up!
I remember laughing as I triumphantly stabbed it to the ground only to relise that he may get up again...ah. So I freaked out even more!

I'm a little way into this level. At first I didn't know that the
residents were undead and I could use holy water.
That made it so much scarier. I think I spent 15 minutes looking down into the morgue from the elevator thinking
"Nothing has moved for 15 minutes, I should be ok". Then when I went down the resident I had shot with normal arrows got up
if you live in washington you may have heard a few weeks ago a metior exploded over tacoma, if you were awake you know that it lit up the sky brighter than daytime, my brother was apparently playing the cradle mission while this happened at 3 in the morning in the dark with earphones, his computer is also right in front of a large window, he said hes never been more terrified in his life

I too am cacking my pants in this level, I know there are no AI in the first part, and I have been wandering for hours trying not to turn on the generators...
Also don't know if anyone noticed something with the blue glowing light in the attic? I went into third person and walked by it watching my shadow, then walked into it...it moved away, I then kept bumping into it and saw the shadow of the little girl moving across the floor...

*raises his hand*
I couldn't think of any other way either, and since I knew that was the exit, I just made the mad dash. :)
