Cradle. Dear God... - by mol

I stopped playing, called my girl friend, asking when is she going to be back, I was that scared.
My legs and my body were chilled to the bone, not because of the room temperature in such lovely summer days, but I was scared pooless.
The level begun in such realistic and believable environment (before you fix the fuse), much remind me of "Silent Hill", the computer game made into a film, and the freedom in running around it was a great build up for the later, where you are restricted with all the crazed creatures, wardens, combine with the typical scary style of institutional lightings.
And the voice was pretty scary, and how they describe the Cradle if it's a slient person, "the Cradle remembers you now.." makes it even worse.
And at the end you have to jump down from the top of the building to trick the Cradle, really sick man.
I am not replaying this again, but I highly admire of it's design, thank you very much.

(bump)
Just replayed T3 on my new system, and 'The Cradle' still remains as spooky as ever!
I used to work in psychiatric hospitals (some of them built in the early 1900s), and this level reminds me of them!
Simply the best Thief mission ever, IMO, and among the top 10 best levels of all 3D shooters/sneakers ever made!
The level is an entire story in itself. The designer could write an entire series of novels based on the building and its history.

Unfortunately he hasn't even finished his plan to write a sequel FM. :(

Jordan had planned an FM sequel to The Cradle? For TDS?

I wonder how much he'd mind being pestered about "The Grave" documentation?:ebil:
So...from "The Cradle" to "The Grave", eh? :sly:Instead of Garrett leaving the Cradle to go to Lauryl's grave?

Go ahead and count on me if he doesn't give in to your persuasion. You can grab Krypt as well since he's checking the WIP thread at the moment.

Don't you think that the song Disturbia by Rihanna is somehow connected to the Cradle? :sly:

Oddity for beginners. After all, there's a thief in the night lyrics. :p And a City.

I was actually contemplating wimping out and doing the 'wedge the door open with a skull' trick only to find out that they'd "fixed" that in TG.
Ah, so that's why it didn't work, when I tried it over and over again. :erg: :nono: Silly me... :p
