two freaking years since I visited these forums.:tsktsk:

Dyer's Eve huh? Maybe after I finally complete TG I should hunt that down.

If the cradle makes you freak out, then I suggest playing "The haunted cathedral" and "Return to the cathedral" of thief 1.
The Haunted Cathedral only spooked me once, and that was when I encountered the ghost in front of the cathedral. The rest of the mission had me a tad uneasy at most. Craymen don't scare me much, nor do burricks. Zombies didn't scare me in this mission for some reason, either.
Least favourite mission in TDP, really. :\

I didn't find The Haunted Cathedral or Return to the Cathedral particularly scary, either. I think it's partly because they mostly lack the element of surprise The Cradle has. I'd already seen zombies before, and since I played on Normal the first time, I didn't encounter the haunts guarding the Serpentile Torc, which left apparitions and the lone crayman as the only new enemies. By the time you enter the cathedral, you've at least seen the haunts through the window outside, so you at least sort of know what to expect. To me, those missions would classify as "mildly creepy", whereas The Cradle made me genuinely nervous.

Maybe going after the torc the first time would make a difference regarding the haunts, it did for me anyway:
I had managed to snag the torc without being spotted by them, but they saw me while I was on my way out. "No problem" I figured "I'll just run away and get to the ledge, after all Garrett is faster than anything else in the game". So I start running, I'm almost to the ledge and pause to glance aound... and the haunt's grinning skull is right behind me!
Add the totally unexpected turn of speed to the eerie noises, and the haunts freaked me out from the get go.
However, I have to say that the Cradle scared me somewhat more than THC or RTTHC. The Cradle alone is enough to put T:DS on my top scary games list.

Im about to enter the cradle for the first time, and so far i have played through the whole game on expert.
Thing is whenever im near the end of a level im always at like 70-85 percent loot so i end up searching around everywhere for the last few things before i can leave.
Obviously if this level is gonna scare the crap out of me (which it likely will) i dont really want to be in this situation. :laff:
So i either have to a) do the level on normal or hard, be slightly less scared and able to leave sooner.
OR
b) keep it on expert and possibly force myself to have to search around for the final % of loot before i leave, whilst screaming like a girl in terror.
A or B? :)

I should say B. In my memory loot in the cradle isn't hard to find (There is one room with like 35%), and it's a great experience. I had no problems ghosting on Normal, and I believe there won't be so many more..ehm...AI...on Expert.

I ghosted it.
Really? How did you ghost the following two areas?
1). Sleeping puppet in morgue. He is blocking the path to get the Special Loot Item (gold teeth). I've never been able to sneak by without waking him:

As you know, Ghosting covers only the areas and objectives that can possible be ghosted. Areas and objectives that are impossible to ghost aren't included.

I always assumed "ghosting" is black and white; a mission is either ghostable or not. In the case of the Cradle, I personally found it impossible to ghost owing to the two areas I cited with screen shots.
If someone did happen to ghost these areas and thus the entire mission, I'd be thrilled to know how. :o
