Excellent level and an excellent game.
Funny how everyone was screaming on how bad this game would be.
Some people are hard to please I guess.
I actually stopped playing three times and had a serious thought on quittin the game till the sun came up.
Took me 100 minutes to clear this thing, and I was doing my best to finish it quickly.

I finished the level last night. A thunderstorm was outside and i was playing this level. I just wanted to get out. In the end I didn't care about the "guards" i was just running up the stairs und jumped through the window.
I have never seen a level before which scared me so much.

Man I love the cradle, but dude everybody's exaggerating, like waiting 15 min or being so damn freaked out can't even play the game... I mean cmon this is borderline retarded and lame.

Your right, it was nowhere near Resident Evil because it did what resident evil wanted to do, but so much better.
Like I said, I'd love to see the people who made this level make a whole game of them, which I will gladly reccomend to my friends who like horror games, but I'd like these same people to stay away from the next Thief game. :D
Part of the reason it's so great is that it's only 1 level. I don't think the experience would've been anything outta the ordinary had it been watered down by multiplicity.

Great mission. I "mostly" ghosted it my first (and so far only) time through.
How did you do that? Please please please tell me or I will die from a fatal heart-attack before the cradle is over... :o

Just wanted to add for those who want scary games, pick up Clive Barker's Undying. No, I'm not in any way associated with the publishers or the people who made it, but it's one of my favorites and for some reason didn't sell very well (just like LGS games). It's very, very scary, and strangely, also made with the Unreal engine, with lots of load zones... :D

It isn't easy. Right now I'm ghosting the Cradle on Expert (AI values locked in place with Thiefbot), with the reduced-size HUD and the lockpick-rings removed. The Cradle staff can be pretty tough if you're not careful- when trying to get to the Nursery Tower, I was kneeling in a dark corner (light gem completely dark) and was spotted by one of them at about eight feet. Only wall-hugging gets me by them now.
The patients... hoo. I accidentally put one into search mode near the Lobotomy theatre, thought I'd lost it, and opened the door into the theatre. Then in comes the patient, searching. I cram myself against the wall in the corner opposite the door. It looks around, seems about ready to give up the search- then visibly notices the open door. The patient walks in a slow circle around the short hallway by the door, and STOPS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I could see the faint impression of its eyes and mouth in the cloth, that's how close it was. It stands there, twitching and breathing, for twenty seconds, not a foot away from me; my finger was poised over the "use item" button, flashbomb primed and ready to toss. Then the patient turns on its heel, gives this disappointed-sounding sigh and walks away.
If you want the most out of this level, ghost it. And put the brightness low enough so that you can't see the patients in darkness. There's nothing like skittering towards the nearest dark corner, watching the pure-black silhouette of a patient stalk towards you, framed in the harsh blue light of a window.

Thiefbot. Is it a program? (I should probobly search this forum about it eh?)
The stuff you just told me freaks me out even more! :eww: I love this game but I am seriously thinking about giving it up if I cant get though this level without having to play it out.
Yes yes, I am a huge chicken, but this level is the WORST I have ever played! (I havent played Resident Evil or anything like this before) The stair, my god, it took me 2 minutes just to get the damn door open, with both a gas-arrow AND a flask of holy-water ready. :D
And you guys are telling me ITS GOING TO GET WORSE!??!!?! :laff:
EDIT: I found Thiefbot now, but "ghosting"? I must sound like a real noob, but what does this mean? To me, it should be "hiding in a wall" a.k.a. noclip, but thats not the case here is it?

I think the best answer can be found here:

After The Cradle, Return to The Haunted Cathedral seems like a picnic with teddy bears, doesn't it?
I wonder if it is purely coincidence that Return To (the) Cathedral = RTC = Robbing The Cradle.
