I have to believe Null was aware of that when he named the mission.

I wonder if it is purely coincidence that Return To (the) Cathedral = RTC = Robbing The Cradle.

Nope. Randy's work on that mission, and his subsequent interview with Kieron are two of the reasons I moved out to Austin.
Emotional stimulation in games is my primary field of interest right now. Fear just happens to be by far my favorite. ;)

So null what are you doing now?
I heard you left ISA
I know this is off topic but can someone give me details about anything, did Warren Spector leave or is that still a rumor?

They're everywhere... they're gonna find me... there! Surely a beast... it's comin! RUUUUUUN!
I was paranoid the entire time I was in the cradle. It was SO frightening... so awful... that's why it's my favorite T: DS mission. :ebil:

I was playing this at about midnight with all the lights off and my dad was standing behind me while I was playing part of this level. I was waiting on top of the dinner cage thing waiting for the lights to flicker and one of the mines I had placed earlier in one of the hall ways went off. I jumped and made garrett fall off the cage. Then one of the puppets ran up to me and got me... all the while my dad comes up behind me and starts going boo! boo! and poking me in the back.... grrr, I so wanted to kick him.

Next time he tries it, flashbomb him. ;)

Jesus Christ. No video game has the right to scare me that much.
Someone said Garrett says something indicating even he is scared if you go back to the cellar door at some point. I didn't hear that, what was it?
I definitely had a real Cradle nightmare the night after I played it. Every time I found an exit, WHAM. Right back where I started.
And, I don't know if this is true of all difficulties, but on Expert, I counted 9 residents, to 9 patients in the book. Rockin' detail.

The Cradle is indeed one of the greatest achievements in level design ever IMO. I’ve played through both T 1 and 2, and although I’ve been through levels like the Haunted Cathedral and have mooched around the haunted library in the mansion (Casing the joint), I’ve never come across a game that has scared me as much as T3 and the Cradle. It’s the whole story behind it that makes it so damn frightening. Rather than just stick in those freaky, shaky inmates, or even a dead little girl who talks to you, they’ve fleshed it all out with a very, very dark and twisted back story about both the building and the inmates. Add to that the fact that the building feels alive and you’ve got a total scarefest, and I love it!
But, even with all of the ‘atmosfear’, it’s the small things that really get me. Such as the sight of a person in the distance, or the fact that even the mighty Garrett sounds like he’s a bit shaken by the whole thing. And, there’s the possessed fruit!!!! Has anyone else found the apple on the table next to the letter in the first part of the cradle? I found it, picked it up and then dropped it. But then is started to roll along the floor all by itself!!!!! Okay, I know this is most likely a glitch in the physics system, but by god, it certainly unsettled me as it tried - no matter how many times I picked it up and dropped it – to get to its destination…

I was playing this level a few minutes ago, it has great atmosphere I'm very impressed.
I can't for the life of me find
Lauryl's night gown
, Anyone point me in the right direction I've been running about for hours! I must be blind or I was just playing it for too long an dlost concentration.

I think a tip for this should be in your Notes...
Anyway, Lauryl says something to the effect of "White Hall is where they keep all the *bad* patients. One of them took my nightgown, and hid it in his cell. Find it, and burn it up... in the morgue."
