Well I opened up the mission in Dromed and I think the author
may have made a mistake. Both the footlocker and the toolbox need to be opened by lockpicks. One of the AI gambling has both lockpicks on his belt but they can't be used.
I managed to use them all right... maybe a bug

My intention was to imagine what JeffK would do if he made a fan mission. It may not look as bad as House Rob or OMGGYBB, but the thing with Dromed is that it's actually much harder to make those kind of "bad" missions than it is to make something halfway decent. Joker and Half Blind are about the baseline of what happens when you put the bare minimum amount of work into a mission. (And TCrap, of course. See my summary thread for info about editting times.)
Most of the "mistakes" in Joker were intentional, of course. But not all! The lockpick bug, for instance, was not meant to be. But since it was still possible to complete the mission, I left it alone. (Something told me that Nightwalker was gonna have this bug and I almost asked her to try it out. That's it, from now on you're beta-testing all my missions!)
Audio credits (in order that you hear them):
"Meltdown" by Lunatic Asylum
"The Aeolean Harp" by Jack Danger
"Dead Enough for Life" by Icon of Coil
and, of course... "Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother. (Also the painting in the room next to Garrett's) Which is the rather obvious inspiration for this mission.
I also took a notable sound sample from the movie "Blazing Saddles".

The lockpicks WON'T work if you have Auto-Pick-Up On and then pick up the thief when he's Ko'ed. (You'll have both lockpicks still together as one item in your inventory). You need to pick the thief's pocket for them - then they'll be fine.
This mission bothered me a lot, as I said in another thread - like a truly sick individual used Dromed as an outlet - there was a line in a readable about 'tEh JoKeR is so kewl' or something like that - wanting to marry him if he was a girl - and then after you actually SEE 'tEh JoKeR' I felt a little nauseous. As a playable mission, it was actually pretty good though. Sick - but good! :)

Yes, you have to frob the picks directly. I see how that wouldn't work now. And what I need to do in the future... I guess "NewCrystal" should be enough.

So you can imagine how I felt having to make all that!

I was not aware this mission belonged to the total crap contest when I started playing. When I reached The Joker I had too little to work with so I fled from him back down the tunnel and finished him on his 'border' :joke:

I am in the midst of replaying all the Total Crap FM Contest entries and had a surprising amount of fun with The J0KeR. I remembered there was a fight at the end but I had forgotten what happens after that fight. The ending made me laugh out loud, especially when the cheesy music kicked in. JeffK would approve! :thumb:
Finished in 32 minutes on C00L with 1945 of 2397 total loot.
