Ah yes from watching the video you're right. It's still post processing though, i mean isn't there a better way to do it where it is actually integrated into the lighting? Cos at the moment it's like the get the prerendered "LENSFLARE" graphics asset and plonk it wherever it's calculated it should be, with changes in colour, scale and rotation (and of course the positions of the lightsources).
It still appears to be using a predefined raster/vector asset to give the overall feel of the flare, or even if programmatically generated, it feels very much pre-baked.
I guess you can't really get away from this if you are doing post processing though?
Lens flares have almost always exclusively been elements added on via post-processing in any game you can name, and even offline rendering with packages as advanced as 3D Studio Max work almost exactly the same way with a post-processing pass overlaying the flare after the image is rendered.
The only way to 'integrate' lens flares into the lighting is to physically simulate the camera lenses and the light rays passing through them, which would be a waste of processing time for a real-time renderer that's got more important things to burn cycles on.
Anyhow, that 'line' is pretty much what you'd see with the right sort of camera when focusing on things like a sunlit exterior point from inside a comparatively darker interior location. I haven't seen it when you go outside, but I have to agree with people saying that on the whole the oversaturated outdoor bloom effect ('sunlight on goggles?') really is overdone.

Problem with not using any bloom is that you'll get the effect of a backdrop painted with a colour, you'll see it as being a sky, but you wont see it as being bright.
So with the hdr in effect, and the sky being quite some amounts brighter than everything else, the bloom will "fake" the effect of you experiencing something extremely bright, when the monitor just has one strength of brightness.

Well that was a waste of time.
Whatever happened to being able to play multiplay demos by yourself just to get a feel for it?
Instead it's: download download;install install; run ; watch silly video for a while; Create an account!; I'm sorry, the user id "justletmeplaydammit" is already taken, please choose another; I'm sorry, the user id "letmeplayyoubastards" is already taken. Please choose another; I'm sorry "fuckinggaaaah" but the email address "aaaargh@gmail.com" is in use by another account. Please nominate another; agree to terms of service; play!; server refresh server refresh server refresh; blank blank blank; no servers in acceptable ping range; quit.
So, is it any good?

BLAME IT ON THE CONSOLE DEVELOPMENT LIKE THIEF DEADLY SHADOWS AND DX: INVIS. WAR!!! :nono:
Just kidding. I think this is really sad though. Crytek were, at one time, my favorite new up-and-coming PC exclusive developer. I marveled at their dedication to not only the platform, but supporting their products for months and months after release, being the first to jump on the AMD-64 bandwagon with their awesome exclusive texture pack, and further cementing themselves in the PC Hall of Fame with Crysis focusing on Multi-core/Direct X 10 focused development while still allowing the XP users to have gorgeous optimized visuals too.
This demo? Worse than their laughably botched (
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=FarCry+demo+woes#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=FarCry+demo+problems&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=ee6ab499cd4cc77a) FarCry 1 demo they released in '03. Oh well, chalk that one up to inexperience. It was their first public release other than the X-Isle tech demo that turned into FarCry.
Well guys, it is only a demo. It is (in my opinion) gonna be focused on getting console players' money first and foremost. It won't get fixed. It is probably killing them inside that the market has changed so much since FarCry that they can't do what they do best anymore. I bet a 360 MP demo wouldn't have these issues...

CoD with stealth mode. Which only changes one thing - you have to remember to check nanovision every couple of seconds.
