And one note about AI in Crysis: It is, in fact, quite good, but the default settings are too timid.
My memorable Crysis AI moment was after I'd ghosted through a town collecting some intel and then went to a fight at a nearby construction site. All the guys I'd deliberately left alive back in town loaded up into a large truck and drove right in behind me while I was trading shots with enemy suits. Grrr. ...No more mister nice guy after that!

I'm playing Far Cry right now and it's pretty fun. I tried the Crysis demo and I liked the suit mechanics but man it was so ugly on medium settings—uglier than Far Cry—that I just couldn't muster any enthusiasm.

Neither. I'm referring to the fact that Crytek makes bad games, period. They make a game that required technology from the
future to run at anything near medium, it's not even a very
good game, nobody buys it except Koki, and then they cry about piracy? What did they fucking expect?
The discussion's probably moved on but I'm soooo tired of this shit.
My four year old, $600 computer ran the game on medium. On medium it's not the prettiest game ever made but it still looks better than about 80% of games of the time so it's irrelevant.
Besides which, the game was actually REALLY FUCKING GOOD. Even if you didn't dig the gameplay and thus didn't like it, it was really fantastically well done. The AI was amongst the best in a shooter (grow some balls and play it on the highest difficulty, they work as a team, flank, flush you out, retreat, and pin you down), the shooting combat was solid (I'm sure this is debatable but they did a good job giving you options overall), levels were intelligently designed to allow for multiple playstyles, and pretty close to every single battle in the game was completely dynamic.

crysis went down the drain on my 4 core 2 graphics card system in the big valley with the tanks you have to blow up just before the lake, frame rate went from 65fps to 2fps I had to set the graphics settings to low from ultra high just to play that section, and it wasn't until I got to the open cast mine just before the big alien ship in the mountain that I could set it back up to ultra high. It was fine everywhere else but there.
