How exactly do you define that as 'viral marketing'?
driver on 24/8/2009 at 18:33
Y'see, I'd strictly define viral marketing as something (slightly) underhanded that tries to hide the fact it's actually advertising something and keeps its source secret, instead relying on work of mouth to spread. The Crynet website is fairly blatant, more of a nod-and-a-wink to those already in the know.

Apparently the game is set in New York City. Presumably large open environments and long draw distances might've brought the aged console hardware to its knees? *shrug*
I can imagine it being a much better sandbox than GTA4's take on NYC (and genuinely fun). A sniper's paradise perhaps?

The magazine's editor excitingly Tweeted, "World Exclusive: Crysis 2 set in NYC!!" No further details were released other than word that the sequel will be set in New York City and there'll be a Nanosuit 2.0.
Last week EA boss John Riccitiello (sort-of) narrowed down a Crysis 2 release date for the title, saying that the firm's next financial year will see "a great new version of Medal of Honor, a revitalized Need for Speed, Sims on console, FIFA in a World Cup year, an innovative and new take on Madden, Dead Space 2, Crysis... an MMA game, and many others."

Strange decision. I like Crysis's open jungle enviroments. I just hit the bit where you get shunted into the frozen forest from out of the core. And it's spectacular. Even more so than what came before. When it comes to graphics, Crysis is still something of an embarrassment of riches.
Moving the sequel to the 'urban jungle' sounds a little... off for a Crytek game, but we'll see. Still, I'd rather have more real jungle, dammit. In rich and vivid sun-streaked globally illuminated detail.

One cool thing is this is supposedly some sort of procedurally generated city with every single building being fleshed out with rooms. I can imagine some epic building destruction and running and punching through walls and stuff instead of taking the streets.

Yeah, jungle is always nice, but lets be realistic: Far Cry pretty much nailed Jungle Warfare. Moving to an urban environment is the way to advance the corps Crytek gameplay nicely. Assuming they make it fun, its something that very few games actually do right. They either get great scale with buildings that serve as little more than terrain, or the ones that do have buildings with a realistic amount of detail are restricted to small levels. There simply is no "Go anywhere" sandbox game with an Urban setting.
SE: would I be correct in assuming your location is a Milliwaves reference?

No, you're not.

Eh, Pity, I figured you were quoting the part where Marvin tells the gang that "I'm in the carpark"

I'm too lazy to wade through the usual forum bullshit and bickering, so, ANY facts about the game besides it being, possibly, multiplatform?
A serious answer, plz.
:)

Shure. It's coming out sometime in 2011 on the PC and PS3 (officially) and X360 (not so official yet apparently but all those X360 logos on EA's game site surely mean something), it's got a new nanosuit, and it's set in NYC. With aliens.
Also, it has tits. And it will be awesome.
