Well then, before anyone comes out with 2012 prophecies, let me diagree with dethtoll and reassure world's further existence: Saying that it's all about the game, not the platform, and ignoring a plethora of factors such as input differences, output differences, target audience differences, fanbase differences, hardware differences, market and culture differences, is wishful thinking.

Those are utterly and completely besides the point.

Crysis Warhead is an upcoming science fiction first-person shooter computer game developed by video game developer Crytek Budapest and published by Electronic Arts, and a standalone expansion pack to the 2007 shooter Crysis. It is due for release in Fall 2008.
The game is a parallel story that follows Psycho, a character from the first game, as he faces his own trials and challenges on the other side of the island during the time period of the first game.I fucking knew it the moment you met Psycho on the carrier with that giant-ass alien he brought. Halo 2-like retardiness.

Was I the only one that didn't really like Psycho? *shrugs* Sadly enough I'd buy the game for a autodownloader. Thats what really killed Crysis multiplayer. I can put up with cheaters, but having the same maps on every server is just massively boring.

I'm going to touch on a couple of topics first. Let's start with Crytek supposedly being no longer a PC-exclusive developer, but their announcing Crysis Warhead to be PC-exclusive. It could be that what they meant was that they would develop other games on consoles to help keep the cash rolling in, but not port their existing PC titles so that they aren't half-assed for the sake of running on consoles.
Next up, why does everyone say that Crysis is all graphics and no gameplay? At least they tried to give the player more freedom to accomplish objectives with the nanosuit and wide-open environments full of destructible things, which is a lot more than I can say for most FPSs on the market that have you walking linear paths and killing enemies in the exact same manner. Of course, they could have improved the gameplay quite a bit (for instance, making the bloody damn nanosuited Koreans die from one Gauss rifle/railgun shot to the head just like in multiplayer!), but that's something that can be said about almost every game out there.
Now, on to the find that I actually came here to post about. (
http://exophase.com/pc/crytek-crysis-warhead-to-feature-performance-enhancements-5886.htm) Apparently, this game is supposed to have significant performance tweaks, but they don't plan to apply said tweaks to the original game any time soon. Needless to say, I'm feeling somewhat screwed over, but if Warhead runs a lot better with the same graphics settings and also improves on the gameplay (especially the missions against Koreans, since those are the most fun to me), I guess I don't have much choice other than forking over another 50-60 US$ or doing without.

Having just finished Crysis, I can't help but wonder: how the FUCK did they not notice the massive fucking memory leak in the penultimate battle with the walker thing on the deck of the carrier? The first couple of seconds it's buttery smooth and I can move around and fire off three rockets in rapid succession and everything, and it just gradually grinds to a halt and I'm forced to manually reset my computer because the damn thing is eating up so much RAM I can't even open the console to quit. Of course if I load up the FINAL battle against the war ship, everything is smooth again, for the duration of battle.
I can't see how they think they'll be able to release anything on a console if their coding is that sloppy.

i had the same problem with the last fight but the first patch they released fixed it for me ...

(
http://store.steampowered.com/app/17330/) Crysis Warhead on Steam (also the original for an exorbitant price - $60 USD, really?).
I'd like to know the story behind this move. EA have their own digital download service. I'd imagine that Crytek put the pressure on? Anyway, it's a wise decision; I know many people who are "Steam or nothing" when it comes to digital distribution.
