Assuming you're past the point where you
use the fire arrow on the torches either side of a statue -

Never found a way into either door of that kind, or the little gated crypt nearby. Maybe they represent the allowed limit of the map size?
SirFreddieM: do you mean the path to that general area, or are you already in the mage / crypt area?

There is nothing in the lower tombs...in other words there just solid behind that door.
