It doesn't work for me though on either my pc or my laptop, both Win7. If anyone can solve this, I will be eternally grateful.

Are you saying CASE doesn't work for you? Are you running Thief in windowed mode? If so, start by pressing and holding the CTRL key, not ALT. Press them in the order C-A-S-E,
keeping them held down. The mission should end.
IOW, don't press all 4 keys down at the same time. It should still work, but...

Yes that's what I was saying but you and Brethren inspired me to try something and I've fixed it. Darn it, after all this time of scratching my head, it was because I assigned shift to run. All I have to do now is get used to another key for running.

I always run or creep in Thief, I never walk. So I don't need a keybind for Run.
nickie on 30/12/2014 at 19:32
What do you do for 'run' then? I've copied the same user.cfg, with run as shift, for as long as I can remember so I don't know what the default is. I used to use w+shift for run but changed it when I realised it was a waste of finger energy. :)

Walk Don't Run?
I usually have it set to always run, then use shift for creep.
nickie on 30/12/2014 at 19:37
If you use shift for creep does ctrl+alt+shift+end work for you?
Renault on 30/12/2014 at 19:40
I also have "always run" on, and when I want to be quieter, I just crouch and move. Never use creep.

I don't use creep either. I either crouch and walk/run or walk, or stand run when I've knocked everyone out and know there's no-one around to hear me clatter. But I wonder what the difference is between crouch walking and creeping. I feel an experiment coming on.
