So boxed is straight, Steam is gay and GoG is bi?
Briareos H on 29/4/2011 at 09:48
yes but bi-curious or bi-chic??

I will be getting it on GOG and hence DRM-free. If I really like it, then I'll get a boxed copy to look good on my shelves when it's dropped in price. Which is ironic, because I usually do it the other way round ;)

That's not ironic, that's just uneconomical. Just stating a fact, not criticizing. I've made some idiotic money-related decisions when it comes to games in my day.

I love boxes. Boxes are great, especially when they come with goodies and stuff. So I'll probably be getting mine off Amazon if I decide to get it, which is looking very likely.
Ironically I just got the original off Steam. For the now factor.

@ Duck: out of curiosity, is there a sizeable used console game market down in Mexico?
Used videogames?, officially in nice and decent stores?, well, dunno if it's sizeable, but it is beggining to be a trend (one I am -SO- glad they're starting to adopt) around two videogame chain stores (GamePlanet and Gamers). Though most prices of used games still go around the equivalent of $30 - 40 USD...though, for us down here, it's more accessible than $80+ games.
Now, I think the flea markets do have a more sizeable market of used games, methinks...
Why'd you ask, boyo? :)

GOG version for me. Most of the stuff in the overly expensive Collector's Edition is dorky crap like a sculpture of Geralt, a Termerian coin, and a dice set (yeah, that'll get used a lot) but the one thing of interest was the 200 pp artbook. Gog is the only way to get that digitally, and for the standard price, so it's a no-brainer.
GOG version offers some other decent goodies like additional music from the soundtrack and an additional free game (you have to choose from a list of 5), so all the better.

Didn't CD Projekt state that the best way to support them would be to get the GOG version, because they get the biggest cut out of it. I would have thought that that, supporting GOG and the no-DRM dealie would be a big incentive to get it off GOG, but I guess I can see why people would want a boxed version... and perhaps why people would want the steam version...

After loving TW1 after my first playthrough (got the normal UK edition first) I got myself the polish edition as well for a few more goodies and the possibility to play in polish + engl subtitles. Long after that I even got the last - platinum I think - edition that includes all updates for convenience. TW1, STALKER and Portal are the only games nowadays that get my preorder money for sure and in the case of TW2 I preordered the GOG for use and the premium for the artbook as well. As far as I can judge from the extensive previews I won't be disappointed by the engine and combat.
