Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for at least 2 years, but this is my first post.
Is there any way to force custom resolutions in Thief 1 or 2? I'm currently using a 32" LCD as my computer monitor, and it won't take any resolutions higher than 1024x768 except for 1080i (specifically 1216x688 on this screen). Obviously, Thief doesn't look all that great at 1024x768.
I searched the forum and looked at the widescreen gaming forum website, but I haven't found anything yet.

The key to experimentation is the cam.cfg file. You'll find one for both games. Look for the following line and manually edit the numbers. I think you can run both up to 1600 x 1200. Don't think wide screen resoultions/ratios work though.

Very few resolutions are.
IIRC you can run at 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.
In-between resolutions such as 1400x1050 (which is a 4:3) won't work.

Eh. Too much time and effort. Thankfully my Dell WFP 2007 will keep the aspect ratios instead of stretching to fill the 16:10 so I can play oldies like Thief and Jedi Knight. In fact, Half-Life 2 is the only 16:10 game I have!

I found that the screen will take other resolutions besides 720p/1080i if I use the component inputs instead of DVI. It keeps the aspect ratio, too. It's not widescreen, but I can live with it.
I thought it was going to look terrible, since it's a cheap LCD and the blacks aren't quite right. It's actually been a lot of fun and very immersive.
