Please do it the other way around. Rename the bins you choose to use from my zip, don't mess with changing things in your hierarchy.
There are 4 bj arms to choose from in the Mesh folder:
armbj2_01.bin - original blackjack arm, one texture
armbj2_02.bin - 3ds for modified blackjack arm, two textures, new blackjack mesh, orig BJ texture
armbj2_03.bin - 3ds for modified blackjack arm, two textures, new blackjack mesh, EP BJ texture
armbj2_04.bin - 3ds for modified blackjack arm, two textures, new blackjack shape, new BJ texture
Pick one of them to put in your MESH folder and rename it to be BJACHAND.BIN and copy the corresponding texture(s) into the MESH\TXT16 folder. Use hex edit on the bin to see which texture corresponds.
There are 4 bj's to chose from in the OBJ folder:
BLACJACK_01.bin - original blackjack object
BLACJACK_02.bin - resized blackjack object to match arm, orig BJ texture
BLACJACK_03.bin - resized blackjack object to match arm, EP BJ texture
BLACJACK_04.bin - new blackjack object to match arm, new BJ texture
Pick one of them to put in your OBJ folder and rename it to be BLACJACK.BIN and copy the corresponding texture(s) into the OBJ\TXT16 folder.
These are meant to be drop in replacements, but only if you rename them to the same name as the LGS originals.

I had already tried that though. Originally, I just used that package and renamed the 04 one but there was the reverse problem on the .gif. I then decided to take the blackjack from AM16's package with the .tga textures. When using bj 04 and renamed the files, it caused an incompatibility with Darkloader and the MODS directory for NewDark.
I don't get the problem if I use FMSel, but if I can modify Thief so that it's not looking for the original model name then that'd be better. I'm trying to make them NOT be drop-in replacements per R Soul's suggestion. Note that the obj one is fine, it's just the mesh that's being overridden by the one in ep.crf.

I would have suggested the same methode as RSoul try renaming so that nothing gets overwritten until now I'm very unexperienced with meshes so I don't now what you have to rename where. MAybe take a look at the DedEx(?) blackjacks and how it was done there.
Btw I'm kinda curious how that BJ looks like.

As for dedex, I haven't tried that so I could check there.

I checked dedex, but I really don't see why it wouldn't work for me. All it had was subtypes of the blackjack with new properties of Model Name, Limb Model, and the Object Name or whatever. Of course, in these cases they're all new arms, but mine is still a blackjack arm. I don't get why it doesn't work by just renaming the files and changing the original BJ in the hierarchy.
Update: Okay, I was just testing the blackjack in-game, and I can actually swing with it because I hear the arm swinging sound, but for some reason the model isn't showing at all. What the hell? Do I have to recompile the arm with a new file name? For some reason if I rename the new arm BJACHAND to armbj, thief won't show it.
Looks like I'm just going to have to keep it as an overwrite and just tell people to not use darkloader. :erg:
Edit: Nevermind, looks like thief was being picky about the file. I just recompiled it with 3ds to bin and called it armbj.bin

Wish I could help here, sNeaksie, but I'm stumped too.
Larry, where is a link to your blackjack upgrade? I'd like to use the new one in my future missions.

Did you also rename the .cal file?

I thought it was earlier in this thread, but it must have been in another thread.

Someone should mirror it to a more permanent location.

There are no .cal files in that package.
