I recently came across this problem myself and found an easy fix for it. To start, I was playing The Black Frog FM and came across an NVscript problem (wouldn't let me pick up a lever to open a gate). I searched the thread and found a post where Gloria Creep linked to a specific thread here:

The fix posted in the FM thread was to install Tafferpatcher, but once I installed it I came across this error posted here. The easy fix that I did was to only install these elements of Tafferpatcher.

As long as you don't install the DromEd Mission Editor you should be fine.

*After installing Tafferpatcher I had to restart the mission for it to take effect.

I want to note that I have the TFIX version of Thief 2 installed from Steam and the darkwidescreen mod installed as well.

If the widescreen mod doesn't work for you, then you can easily change your settings in the cam file and DDFIX Configuration files like this:

You don't have to use the resolution settings that you see either. The base resolution for the game is 800 X 600.
