I've got Daggerfall to work fine in XP before, though from my CD version not a download.

Well, if it's the latest patch, then it's... reasonable enough for an RPG, I guess.

It has bugs. Expect it to crash once a half hour or so when you get farther into it. Save often. Totally great game though for it's time. It's kind of a 3D roguelike imo. You'll have to run it in DOSBox and it might be a bit slow even on a quadcore cpu. I was totally addicted to the game when it came out and still fire it up every now and then.

You shouldn't have to run it in DOSBox. I seem to recall running it fine with only VDMSound a few years back.
