Loved the mission. Played it on Garrett Harder.
Sameness of architecture more than compensated for by the imagination put into the puzzles. I LOVE that kind of thing.
Solved all the puzzles without outside help. Got all secrets and nearly all the loot (may have missed a coin here and there).
Great ordinance!
I guess I am alone in absolutely HATING the music which plays while reading texts or loading from the load menu. It's loud and obnoxious.
Not a clue about the Easter Egg in spite of having read thru this whole thread.
Time to play Duke Nukem mode!
Oh, I actually finished the mission first without fighting any skeletons in the throne room by running, grabbing the OBJECT and hightailing it to the exit with a horde of angry skeletons chasing me. That was a lark! I even made a couple of wrong turns, but led the baddies on a merry chase to the end.
Then I reloaded and bombarded them with ordinance, particularly Benny.
Dare I Ghost it?

Top-of-the-line mission. I appreciate the Diablo references, too.

That's amazing, considering there weren't any that I consciously made! :p What did you take as a Diablo reference?

The Bone King for one. The fact that he has a magical crown and a legion of skeleton troopers to protect him made me think immediately of King Leoric from Diablo (who is actually labeled as the Bone King).
Also, Azmodan, who is a demon lord from Hell in Diablo 2.

Well, I played both games long ago, but not recently, though it may have been partially subconscious. However, the name Bone King at least actually came from Radiohead's song There There, which is subtitled (The Boney King of Nowhere.).
Also, some of the ideas for this mission have been in the back of my mind for years. Back in the days just after BHI first came out, I had an idea for a sequel in which you played as Abby from BHI (she was also a thief, remember), and went into a crypt looking for a sword called Bonecrusher (which I used for the name of the mace in DwtD), amidst something called the Bone Wars, in which two opposing skeleton kings were battling for control of the crypt and you had to pass through in the midst of different skeleton factions battling each other. When you finally got Bonecrusher and were headed back out, you were going to get blackjacked by Garrett, ending the mission. :ebil: Then in mission 2, you played as Katherine (Abby's lover alluded to in some readables in BHI) and had to go in, KO Garrett, rescue Abby and get her out along with Bonecrusher.
Oh well, we've all have had plenty of mission ideas that never got realized, hunh?

I finally got to this mission. I have to say it was incredible. Once I figured out there were bonus missions, I began to have some fun. In all, I got I believe 4 optional and 4 bonus, 2 of which crosses off. Is that all of them? For some reason I'm short 50 loot. I'm actually pissed off because I did this on both easy and hardest levels, as Garrett and as Duke levels. I got exactly the same loot, 6835. I did get the necklace off the girl's corpse in the talisman room. I saw that was 50. The only other things that could add up is the tapestries or coins. I can't see anything that I've missed and I've been to the rooms several times. Was there another corpse that had a 50 loot necklace?

Did you get the easter egg?:joke:
Philflound on 30/10/2007 at 21:07
What particular easter egg are you speaking about?
I found all the secrets. I did the talismans. I found the treasure room. I gave the dead king his sword and crown. I did find out that if I beat the skeleton's skull in the sarcophagus with the sceptre, the sceptre vanishes from my inventory.
Like I said, I looked at the loot list, and I can't particularly find anything I missed that would be 50 loot. The only thing is maybe if it's hidden in one of those rooms. I keep thinking the blue beetle room may be hiding something, because it says to keep digging deeper as an objective when I hit 3000 loot.
