It's odd reading something I wrote one day back in 2001 and thinking... "That was me? That doesn't
sound like me." Maybe it's all the winky faces. :erm:
well, mate, if it freaked you out after six years, how does it feel after eleven?
disclaimer: hit this thread accidentally after googling Dark Age of Camelot.

What I found intresting about DC is how it had the Mages Tower level, which was dropped from TDP and reinstated in TG. So it's in fact one of the older missions

It was supposed to be a hub of sort from where you could teleport to talismans' locations. After the idea of the hub was dropped, they had to redesign the mission so that it would contain one of the talismans. I don't remember where I read about it though.

It would be amazing if we could play that and the early versions of TDP, saw those screenshots some years back and they look really great!

This quote is from (
http://www.ttlg.com/thief/html/exclusive.htm) Tim Stellmach.
Quote:
It evolved over the course of many months. Originally, we were thinking of concentrating mainly on swordfighting as our core gameplay. We toyed with a "Dark Camelot" idea where Arthur was the bad guy and you played Modred. And Modred was this kinda sneaky little guy. Interest in the Camelot theme didn't take off, but by the time we bagged it the Modred concept had evolved into such a rogue that we went straight from there into the Thief game. A lot of this, of course, came from System Shock, where it's all pretty hairy, and you aren't really a killing machine, so you have to do a lot of ducking around and playing it tactically kind of commando-style.
So here again we have Tim Stellmach informing us that the "general stealth" concept they evolved for Thief, began at least as early as System Shock. Just a few years earlier was Ultima Underworld, where many of the team got to know Richard Garriott well, perhaps a little too well! Im guessing that I would have probably enjoyed Dark Camelot about as much as Heroes of Might and Magic II, give or take. Im just glad that at the end of the day, the game became the classic rpg that it is.
