As of this week I have an Oculus dev kit and I'm a developer by trade. If you've got code to share I'd be happy to look at it and see about getting it up to snuff.
I'm gonna look into getting the Dark Mod working with the Rift, given there's already been substantial work done on Doom 3 proper.
Also, KoHaN69, I checked out that last vid you posted in the Rift, and while there is definitely a real feeling of 3D, it appears your horizontal axis is almost half what it should be - everything seems tall and narrow.

I tested Skyrim and Portal 2 the other day on the dev kit. It's pretty cool. Comfortable to wear and does not feel heavy (I didn't use it long). Clearly in a dev-stage, though. Feels a little weird, looking around by moving your head OR using the mouse, let alone both at the same time. But you need the mouse for turning around, since you can't really physically turn around or you'll lose hold of the keyboard. Coming to think of it, this might work better with a wireless equipment. Things get blurry when you move too fast, with "too fast" being rather slow. Some people even get motion sick, I only played the intro of Skyrim and until soon after you get the portal gun and already felt like I was cross-eyeing the whole time. Also, there were FOV-issues with the menues being slightly out of sight. Still, pretty cool. Blocks out everything that is not visible in the game world. If it wasn't for the people around you talking, this could be a new level of immersion. Oh, and yes, it does support tilting your head, but I'm not sure if/how this could be translated into leaning.
KoHaN69, you used (

Aw man, playing Thief with the Rift must be a blast, especially with the HD mod. Once I get the commercial Rift first thing I'll do is play Thief.

That's definitely a must-play if I get the Oculus.
