No update yet. Just wanted to ask people:
Does someone here know anyone from the dev. team of Ion Storm? I'd like to know if the thing that is often said - that ion storm had access to Dark Engine source code during T3 developement - could be finally stated as true or false. This, in my eyes, could mean different chances to get to that source code. Maybe I'm just misinformed, and this already was discussed to death, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I still don't hope much, but giving up is useless :)

I don't know if it ever happened, and I hadn't heard about the Ion team seeing it. Can you recall more about where you heard that, or who said it?
Peter Smith's tried to find out about the source code, too. (

After hearing (

this, I wonder if Eidos really let the Ion team see it.
Krypt joined the team later:

This seems to be the general consensus:

Inquiry Regarding Dark Source Code - 9:36:58 PM - Dan
I know that word has been buzzing about the Dark Engine source code. I went ahead and asked Warren Spector if he could confirm of deny anything. This is the reply I was given:
Warren: At this point, the only accurate statement anyone could make would be that I'm trying to FIND the Dark source. Eidos acquired the rights to the code, near as I can tell, and also acquired a bunch of ex-LG hardware but getting all that hardware and figuring out what's on it is pretty much where we're at right now. That's not to say it WON'T happen. Just that it hasn't happened yet. Soon as there's anything concrete to report, I'll let people know.
Sounds both grim and promising at the same time. Let's keep those fingers crossed. :)
Thanks jtr7. Sad, sad thing. Forgotten, lost, accumulating dust somewhere, if anywhere... :(
Well, everyone is invited to give helping hand with (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/opde) openDarkEngine ;) - Especially people which know the original engine well.
( We hope to release something small but functional soon [mission viewer, small, incomplete scripting framework], although lack of time is breaking the plans, as always. )

Given that I know C++ and C# very well, how difficult would it be for me to learn python? I've had a quick look and it seems like a mix between basic and pascal.
