Hi folks, this is the first time I try to work with Blender. So I downloaded version 2.58. I also downloaded the darkexporter 015 and put it in the scripts addon folder. This is what the
dark_exporter_conf.txt says:
{
"selection_only": false,
"bsp_dir": "C:\\Windows\\System32",
"bin_copy": true,
"debug_level": 6,
"spec_shader": true,
"thief_dir": "C:\\Program Files\\Thief GOLD",
"illumination": true,
"bsp_optimization": 3,
"two_sided": true,
"png_conversion": true,
"n3ds2e_dir": "C:\\Windows\\System32",
"unknown_value": 1,
"transparency": true,
"jpg_conversion": true
When I try to export into a bin file I become this message.

Is it, because it's not Thief Gold or Thief1? I've also tried darkexporter 016.

You have to adjust the configuration file. In the
thief_dir option you have to type the path to your Thief1/Thief2 installation folder. In
bsp_dir and
n3ds2e_dir you have to enter the path to where your bsp.exe and n3ds2e.exe are located.
You may try to read the documentation (
http://www.bytehold.com/index.php/projects/dark-exporter) here.

Hi Elendir, I was reading the documentation, but overlooked the point where you talk about the
bsp and n3ds2e. I changed the dark_exporter_conf.txt into this:
bsp_dir": "D:\\Txt16",
thief_dir": "D:\\Thief2",
n3ds2e_dir": "D:\\Txt16",
I will try it, hope I understand you right.
Thanks

bump!
I cannot get the exporter to display in version 2.59. I install and enable it via User Preferences, but it doesn't show up in the Export menu.

Luckily I have a brand new laptop here, so I downloaded Blender 2.59 and a fresh Dark Exporter 0.1.7. I had no problems installing it. Works like a charm.
Maybe you're using some previous version of Dark Exporter?

so it's clear where the problem lies.
hmm I don't get it.
What must I do to get the exporter to run without errors?
[Thanks for bump ;)]
