Is it possible to use the Dark Loader front end with Steam versions of Thief2 and ThiefGold?

Absolutely.

Don't install it (Thief/DL) in a protected folder.

I put mine straight into C:\Thief2\ and FMs into D:\FMs\
Never any problems

Andros, what voodoo47 is trying to say is, it's generally recommended these days to use FMSel or NewDarkLoader instead of the old Darkloader, which is known to have issues with some newer FMs and NewDark in general, especially if you use any enhancement packs.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I'm having issues with my Darkloader (version 4.3). The FMs load properly and I get the initial difficulty options, but as soon as I hit the FM title to play it, the screen goes black and Windows (7) gives me an error message that the program has stopped working. I'm playing T2 from Steam (in c:/program files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Thief 2) and my T2 FMs are in Desktop/Documents/Thief 2 FMs. I can play T2 no problem, but the loading screen goes black and I get an error message the minute the FM tries to open for me to actually play. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's also advised not to have Thief installed under Program Files, although with this being the Steam version, I'm not sure you can do much about it now. Definitely give NewDarkLoader or FMSel a try first.

Actually, you can make a second Steam library installation location during individual program installation. You can (as far as I know) create as many folders for installing Steam games as you want.
