I just finished this. I think the Old Quarter section of it was better than the original Thief 1 mission. All those purple/blue glowing rooms, that burning building, the flaming people. You had some great ideas, Schattengilde.
I usually dread these undead missions but the environment was so interesting and detailed it kept me hooked.
Thanks

secret way to old quarter! Since I don't have the key to the catacoombs!
(bloody keyhunts! :grr: :p)
You all just ran right over Verak's question about where the heck the "Latch" key is sposed to be used! And I wanna know that too! The civilian I swiped it from went in and out of a room that had no where to use it!
Also, the hatch at the top of spiral wooden stairway accessed from Bassilus's quarters, does'nt frob. Eye candy?
Don't think I'ze sposed to be up here, but while I am:

Oopsie, another place I aint sposed to be!:

Bassilus can be killed. I led him to the flooded room and got him over by the steps going down to the submerged room and just blackjacked/nudged him until he fell into deeper water on the steps. The water took it from there. It still took a long time for him to die. The hit points are waaaaaay up there. I
You just got lucky! I defy you to repeat that, I tried it 6 times and failed everytime to get him under the water! :nono:
This is the first time I been ticked off at an authors bad guy being made WAY too uber! Bassilus should be tough, but sh*t to shinola, not nigh invincible!
Um, there is NO catacoombs key in the room with the scrolls about his test subjects!
(and no skull either!)

GS,
The key should be on the desk opposite the scrolls, its grey and blends in to the desktop!
Damn those sneaky taffers!

Thanx Basil, I will take another look!
Though I swear I looked hard! :erg:
AHA! Found it, across the room, seems the fireballs Bassilus missed me with (dude has the aim of Mr. Magoo! :p) caused a backblast that shot it over to the other side! ;)

learn to duck! :sly: :joke: :laff:
My #1 rule for combat (somehow Sun Tsu missed this one!), if you can see it coming, don't be there when it arrives! ;)

Tell that to the walls to the right and left of me...:cheeky: Sometimes, doorways aren't ideal places to be.

It never hurts to be prepared... I thought.
Anyway, if I remember that correctly, after my first and very painful meeting with this mad priest I instead sneaked around until I got what I wanted from Bassilus' area, and ran off like a madman once discovered. Standard Thief tactic for me.:cheeky:
