Is it just me or is there tons of references to the Thief games in Dark Messiah?
To name a few, you have Rope Arrows (yes!) as well as a outfit called "Master Thiefs Outfit", with the description; "The letter 'G' is printed on the chest". 'G' as in Garret.
Also the existence of loads of Huge and small spiders, much resembling those in the series.
Anyone know if perhaps some ex-LGS employee worked for Arkane?

Sorry to not answer your question, but should I buy Dark Messiah? Is it any good? What are your goals?

Did Purah end up at Arkane? Would/might explain a few things...

Randy Smith also helped out with Dark Messiah. The author of the SS2 rebirth project, a TTLGer, was also hired by Arkane.
Arkane Studios as a whole are huge Looking Glass fans.

Randy Smith, too? Coolness.
There's so much stuff to catch up on.:nono:
Thanks Digi'!
EDIT: Wait a minute, dammit. The neurons that held that information just fired and I remember that now. Cursed latency!
Heh.

Dark Messiah, looks cool, except when I threw a crate that exploded near some orks and they didn't notice it at all...
I never replayed again...

It´s an original mix of a football game with a FPS.

I just started yesterday the game, and suddenly I noticed that they stoled something from the TTLG's works: when you are in that kind of bonehoard, at the very beginning, when you are in training, it's evident the background music called "basement" in Thief 2, with the add of some effect. Plus other some SFX I don't remember now, maybe the doors opening or the crates breaking, maybe the opening-closing of the bonehoard portcullis.
So I wanted to open a new thread here to evidence the similarity, but, as usual, before I wanted to search for another one already opened, so I wrote here. And your master Phenrig resembles more to an elder T3 Hammerite than a Mage.
The game, all told, are well realized (I like so much that scratch you leave when you hit anything with the sword, something that Thief doesn't have). Dynamic stimulus of the chain and chain-climbings, both things NOT implemented in T3 (shame!). Reflection on water surfaces.
The storyline, from what I've seen, is so-so :/, and the horses movements are a bit more mechanical than the ones in Assassin's Creed. Just one very negative note: the walking movement of the guards: is awful, and worst realized than the ones in Thief 3 (in facts T3 has hundreds of realistic, wll created animations, and many of them were neither used in the game :( ).

Dark Messiah didn't steal from Thief, it paid tribute. LGS devs and a TTLG member worked on it. And like all other games, it never comes close to the Thief experience, but uses things Thief brought to the gaming industry.
