a heavily re-engineered version of Thief 2 and DromEd, Dark Metal allows Thief 1 FMs to be played in Thief 2, it also has masses of new objects, characters, AI intelliegence and game systems
Sounds awsome!
So are you saying that this mod will also effect the T2 OM's?

(There's a Dark Mod being discussed also, folks.)
Thanks, New Horizon! :)
I think pretty much everyone is aware of Dark Mod, but that has nothing to do with Thief 1, 2 or 3. We're building it in the Doom 3 Engine.

Yes. Dark Metal is becoming such a BIG project that it will have to be released in chunks. Chunk 1 revises missions 1 to 3 of T2, then regular (provisionally bi-monthly) updates will tackle the remaining missions and the T1G missions. The T1G missions are encrypted, and can only be played if DM finds the original T1G missions on your PC. Finally, a package for mission builders will round it all off.
The revisions include:
Retextured architecture (using high-quality textures)
Updated high-quality models
Hi-poly AI models
Updated particle effects
Massive gameplay changes (too many to list)
Dark Metal has only really been mentioned on the Editors' Forum (for about 3 years, since I released DEDX), but when the first chunk comes along it will become more of a General/FM thing.

Do you have any idea when the first chunk will come out? Before christmas?

Oh, definitely before Christmas. I'm aiming for end of July.
Rob.

Thanks so much for sticking to the project Rob. :) I am sincerely drooling at the thought of playing through the missions with Dark Metal enhancements.

Ooookay... there's respect for intellectual property, and then there's just being stupid.
Such an encryption approach accomplishes nothing. At best it inconveniences
everyone, and at worst it forces a few naughty people to download Thief Gold.

I don't have a problem with it really. We get to try some updated content. As long as the process works, I'll be happy.
