Thief deadly shadows regardless of the critiscisms, is for me the game which no amount of superlatives could describe effectively. Having a twisting narrative, which although features the thief quasi-convention of 'prophecy of impending doom', inspires through well made, glossy cut scenes.....
but why was it also the darkest in the series?
the amount of times i had to keep squinting....:grr:
the thief series will lead in several generations time to people who have evolved with poor eyesight but a hightened sense of hearing. :cheeky:

I don't exactly get what you mean.
...
Wait, a pun on gamma, right?
That's pretty good.
The paragraph at the start was a clever misdirection, nice touch.

kudos;)
yeah ive been rather mystified as to the need to cover the game with a black hue.
the next game should be: thief a summer in dayport:ebil:

Well if it's all like LOTP then I wouldn't be complaining ;)
I actually find thief 2 is darker for gamma (dont have t1) than thief ds, alot of my problems though are my lcd screen has a reflective coating on which doesn't help much :cheeky:

What I don't like about TDS is that everything takes place in nighttime. I mean, what is Garrett doing in daytime? And wouldn't it add more variety if he came out in say - late dusk?
DaveW on 11/5/2007 at 22:06
Thieves generally operate in the nighttime. It's not very effective to 'hide in the shadows' in broad daylight, or even at "dusk". Wasn't Thief 1/2 the same, anyway?

Only daylight mission is for T1, Cragscleft Prison. You start in the daytime, and go into the mines. Love the ambients when you get in there.

I always thought of T1 and T2 as taking place in summer. If you turn up the gamma real high (which I have to do to see anything), it actually looks fairly light out. It stays light later in summer, so I just got the summer feeling. Also, Running Interference in T2 I think had cricket noises and the skybox looked summer-ish to me.

And you can always turn the brightness up. :cheeky:
I didn't like the way the interface in the menu was set up. I often couldn't even see what was highlighted and I'd keep clicking on the wrong stinking thing. :nono:

Frankly, I thought that visual-wise AND plot-wise Thief 1 was the darkest of the lot. :cheeky:
