I'd certainly hope not. SunBeam's having to work through some serious shit now. Personally, if I knew my granddad was dying of cancer...I wouldn't have the wherewithal to make a ham sandwich.

Indeed.

Ugh--I actually read the whole thread this time, instead of just the tail-end...
Sorry to read about your Granddad, Sunbeam. I hope you are doing well, or at least as well as can be expected.
I lost all of my grandparents to cancer, along with an aunt-- and nearly my mother when I was ten.

Thankfully, I haven't lost anyone to cancer, but I did lose my aunt some years ago to an aggressive kidney disorder she had since she was like...10.

This thread has purposely veered in to coping and sorrow. If we knew exactly how Sunbeam felt right now, this thread wouldn't be all over the place. I'm at least lucky to know that besides the grandfather on my mothers side (who I was related to merely by law), most of my relatives have lived to the peak of 80. I guess I'll admit I didn't take their losses so hard, as I'd never really see them much.
My father, now, that was a loss that killed.
However, the past, which may come to haunt us presently, must always stay at that level, as we must face the facts that whether or not a death was natural, does not take our lives, whom our still present, out of the mix. Yearn if you must, and live happy like those one-living souls would've liked to have seen you do.

Mourning a loss is a natural progression toward healing and being happy. We can simultaneously celebrate their lives and mourn the loss of their existence at the same time.

Much in the way of the Norse, eh?

Eh, I guess NH worded it a little easier.
