User should be able to find an easy back door in case, and no, this is a BETA, you can't apply such rules to something that isn't even expected to be used 100% functionally.
And if I had known what to back up, I certainly would have backed it up. I simply was mislead into thinking that this is nothing more than an outside process that leaves no mark on the games configuration.

Doesn't it just alter the Thief executable? Over write the altered exe with the original from the CD.

That's why I always keep a compressed backup of certain mission-critical files. Of course, if I have a backup image of the discs, all the better. This computer has two Thief installations, 'course, that's because it has my old computer's HDD in it (I'm still in mourning).

Someone said it modifies the USER.CFG file as well, so I'm not sure. Also, maybe we should wait for sunbeam to reply on this before we make any blind decisions, nay?

Post the contents of the user config here and I'm sure we can tell you if it's altered and what it should likely be. It's not a huge deal. Worst case scenario, reinstall the game...and even that's no biggie.

You know, if naming is going to cause any more commotion, you could always name it ThiefHook. I think that's a good compromise.

I stand corrected on the second jump. However, after many years of experience, I have never gotten a jump faster than the third. And yes, I am one of those fanatics who can execute the tripple jump at will.
Well, it's not as pronounced by the second jump. If it could be patched out that would be good cos sadly it is hard to resist it sometimes :(

What happened to Sunbeam ? Where is he ? No word for days now.
Maybe Telliamed's hitman caught up with him :cheeky:

I hope he hasn't died/left the project. That would suck BAD! :(
By the way, I'm thinking of starting a campaign to end the tyranny of (
www.sunbeam.com) Sunbeam! Whose with me?
If they are the reason that SunBeam has suddenly vanished, then surely they must be stopped. From now on, instead of using a Sunbeam fridge, I'll use a Whirlpool Fridge. Instead of eating Sunbeam bread, I'll eat Sarah Lee (though I doubt my stomach would handle her... :eww:). And last but not least, by the slightest chance that I ever have to listen to an R&B album against my will by some very enigmatic gangster whose blackmailing me or my family member/pet/acquaintance 'gets it', I will most certainly decline if it's "Sunbeam" by The Emotions...
... Or, maybe I'll just stop using products from the Sunbeam appliance company.
