I think I've finished re-installing everything after my computer was upgraded to a duo core (XP not Vista) and fiddling with so many fixes, patches, fiddles, nVidia thingies and so on. It just seems to get more bloody complicated! Now TG and T2 work and I'm about to start on Darkloader, T2x and FMs.
My question is - (and my eyes are too damned sore to experiment further) is whether I have to do the 'disable one cpu' trick every time I start a new fm, or just once for Darkloader.
It is a pretty stupid question, and I apologise for having to ask it.
But my brain has turned to mush.
Many thanks.

I always have to set affinity to one core on the Thief.exe, cos whether its started through Darkloader or not, the Thief.exe is still an active process.
I haven't played Thief for a month or two though so I'm not 100 % certain cos I have a shit memory :laff:

It depends what that 'trick' is because there are two ways to do it.
I take it you got your information from here:

The first way is to start Thief2, then run Task Manager and manually deselect one of the processors.
That has to be done each time Thief2 is run, and for that reason, it's not the best solution.
The second way is to use another program to permanently disable one cpu for Thief2.exe. The instructions are linked to in the section of the FAQ I linked to.
That only has to be run once, until you reinstall.

Well I didn't know that, by golly:laff:
