Hello there, I recently finished Thief 1 and am moving on to Thief 2. I installed it and it plays fine with some fixes, but the problem seems to be that it is just far too dark. Adjusting gamma doesn't help at all; the shadows remain pitch black. I'm not sure what the problem is. I tried the Tafferpatcher and honestly the opposite happened and the image seemed washed out, like my brightness and not gamma was too high but again adjusting didn't help. Is there a possible way to adjust a different kind of brightness in the unpatched or patched versions? I've heard that if you go into the config and change the gamma there it will work, but my attempts at doing so haven't been successful. If I adjust in the config file, it goes to 1 gamma when I start the game up and that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas about fixing the brightness issues in either the patched or unpatched versions? Thanks!

While certain specs of your computer may or may not be involved with your current issue, it would certainly help to know what operating system you are using and at the very least what video card and drivers. Otherwise, you are basically forcing everyone here into a minor guessing game. If you really wanted to, I suppose you could even list the entire specs of your computer! Either way, I am sure that someone will be by soon enough with more in depth feedback.
Hang tight peruvianskys, and welcome to TTLG. :ebil:

Haha that was a little dumb of me, I think I was posting at work and in a rush before an irate customer threw something at me.
I'm running Vista, with a GTX 260. I have the unpatched version with the dual-core fix and nothing else. My monitor is 1920X1080 HDMI. I can't think of anything else important that would make a difference, but I can post more information if it would help. Thanks!

1. Have you tried uncommenting safe_texture_manager in you user.cfg file in your Thief 2 install directory?
2. If you have or that doesn't solve the problem, you might try installing ddfix manually. Search the forum and you should be able to find it. I think I had a similar issue one time and installing ddfix helped. Basically with newer graphics cards you should always install ddfix.

I'm a
little curious as to what exactly that customer threw at you. A filthy look? A flashbomb?
I know it has nothing to do with what you've asked, but if you could just humour me.:)
