George Lucas, in his impeccable artistic wisdom, has decided to give Darth Vader an extra line in Return of the Jedi. Can you guess what it is? If it begins with the letter "N" and rhymes with "nooooooooooooooooooooooooo," oops I gave it away.

The billionaire filmmaker's latest change can be seen in the upcoming Blu-ray release of the original trilogy. In the battle between Luke Skywalker and the Emperor in "Return of the Jedi," Lucas has given Darth Vader a new bit of dialogue.
Originally, Darth Vader just stood and watched the Emperor electrocute Luke with lightning bolts before coming to his son's rescue. Not anymore. Now, right before Darth Vader comes out of his daze, lifts up the Emperor, and tosses him to his death, the Dark Lord of the Sith yells a helpless "Noooo!"
I was hoping it wouldn't be as bad an outburst as in Revenge of the Sith, but then I realized every "no" is created equal so it doesn't matter.

....I don't even understand what the point of that is. Were we to think that Vader was in support of the electrocution and just threw the Emperor in a hole because his suit malfunctioned?
It's not so much that George Lucas is artistically bankrupt, just that his mind is inscrutable. Like he's a gone a little bit crazy. Sometimes I think he does these things just to get press.
The good news is that Return of the Jedi is really only a mediocre film (in my eyes) so it's not like it's ruining a masterpiece. Though that's probably the film's best scene, so it will hurt it.

It's annoying when an artist cannot leave alone a successful piece he created. The fact that these movies have long become a part of modern culture only seems to inspire him to rework them. He doesn't seem to understand that the collective memories are out of his hands and he just comes across as a meddling self important old man. This is why artists who die young are best loved.

The point is that Lucas is so retarded that he feels, for whatever reason, that it isn't clear enough that Vader is going through internal conflict that leads to him turning away from the Dark Side and also it provides some tenuous link (literally saying "noooo") to the moment where Anakin became Darth.
And you're right, it is probably the best scene in the movie and is the climax of that whole awesome sequence where Vader and Luke face off before the Emperor.
ALSO CANT FORGET NEED TO SEE THOSE FUCKING EWOKS BLINK

Er, artists who die young get more attention than they did in life, for obvious reasons. Most artists don't keep on retouching their masterpieces despite ongoing life.
Lucas is a farce these days, and apparently doesn't have anyone advising him well.

Is there anyone who hasn't seen this classic (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI) Phantom Menace review, which shows exactly how far George Lucas has fallen into the pits of wretchedness.
Lucas could have Vader say any profound or meaningful thing he wants, and all he adds is a stupid 'NOOOOO' cliche. What a load of shit. Why not have him yell, 'It's over 9000!!'

I'd pay good money to see that.
