This is interesting stuff. I've been reading through the entire Dune collection lately, both the originals and the expanded books written by Frank's son. David Lynch's movie was my first exposure to the books. I realize the movie wasn't great, but I've always defended it as being a very good aesthetic representation of the Dune universe. I liked the set pieces much more than the 2000 re/de-make that seems to have concerned it self more with not being the Lynch film, than it did with being a good movie.
The music is good! At least the one track I've been listening to while posting.

This David Lynch album sounds exactly like I'd expect a David Lynch album to sound.

I'm dissapointed he gave up filming though, but then again it happened not recenly but 10 years ago (I don't count Inland Empire, didn't like it at all, clearly underdeveloped ).
