Excellent, NV! No one should ever see or learn of a Keeper entrance or place at all, until after TDS. I don't believe anybody but Garrett and the Keepers knew of that canal entrance, ever. I did suggest, once, entertaining a notion, that the drainage of the canal would've gotten somebody's attention, assuming someone heard the noise and inspected while Garrett before Garrett came back out.
It would've been a Hand Mage picking up a scroll that was almost left behind, or something, but very likely a Hand Mage she saw.
The end cutscene shows a welder and torch, with gas tanks and welding mask...reality-based, not Masked Servant stuff, and the welder looks similar to the smith in the briefings throughout the game. It's construction work, and the cranes and girders are laying the bones for the new City.

i suppose if you watch the video of the rust gas frame by frame, the gas passes and effects the grass but nothing really happens.. i always got the impression that it was slowly killing the grass since it looks a little 'burnt' to me.. but very close look, it's hard to see what the covering is doing...

It disintegrated the Masked Servant and beggar in about 10 seconds.
It was Ruststorm that blasted into Karras's cathedral, fueled only by Viki's remains, from mostly hundreds of meters away.
And... it doesn't do ANYthing to the grass for several seconds, and only after it went through the Cultivator. The grass isn't burnt, you are seeing the grass through the rust-gas, and it's the light playing on it, but I know what you mean. It looked that way to me, too, the first few times. If it were really burnt, then the grass healed itself for a second, and maybe you can credit Viki for that. :p Anyway, half of the grass is in contact with the rust-gas twice as long as the other half before it's destroyed, and it takes 13 seconds for the
cultivated gas to reach it from when the canister is opened. This is in sequence from left to right. You can see the first blade of grass that comes in contact does not change shape, and the third frame reveals the grass is NOT burnt after all. It's like blowing smoke across a beam of light cutting through the darkness. The blade is backlit on the center of the visible length, and the gas just scatters the light like smoke. The mutox isn't just a fast-acting version of weed-killer, but strips the molecules apart and makes more of itself from the atomic bits, which it's not doing to this blade.

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/7624/tmab16frames.pngBoth halves of the container have a blade of grass sticking up high to come in first contact with the two states of the rust-gas. The rust-gas enters in the right half of the container, and that side remains mostly filled with rust-gas while the Cultivator draws some in and pumps the excited gas into the left side. The right side has gas almost the whole time, and the grass is vibrant green. The left side shows immediate effects and the grass not only is burnt, but disintegrated, and the gas on the left side curls down and back to the right side, and disintegrates the grass that has been green up 'til that point while blanketed in gas straight out of the canister. This is just before it comes through the Cultivator and just as it curls back into the first half.

i wonder if there is another gas in the Cultivator because it seams as the gas goes from inert (can't spell that word) to deadly in a very little time and that normally only happens with something else to trigger it.. i can't think of how the Cultivator could do it without a trigger.. Of course, we could say its magic or something but on machines like this, it seams more grounded in real life. Note i said 'Seams', so no moaning on that point ^_^

I think the cultivator contains a chemical substance that reacts with the rust gas to change its properties or a catalyst that reacts with the gas without being used itself. The latter case would also mean that the cultivator can be used indefinately. Nice screens! :thumb:

Thanks.
Maybe the Cultivator is like a catalytic converter, if it's not just doing something electrically. And don't forget, if the gas has nothing more to react with, it becomes an inert solid on its own and falls to the earth as dust.

Like a flame. With no oxygen, it dies out, same about burnable stuff... does seam to act alot like fire doesn't it?
Oh, near the start of Assassins you have this been showing the hammers are falling before the trickster returns:
Quote:
GUARD3: Sg3c1501: Jorek tells me the Hammers are gonna close down Cragscleft.
GUARD1: sg1c1502: Yeah, he's taffing you. Where are they gonna put the poor saps they grab?
GUARD3: Sg3c1503: Dunno.... Toss 'em into a well or something. Anyhow they just don't have enough guys no more.
GUARD1: sg1c1504: Kind of sad. They used to be the power. Now they're just a bunch of guys wishing for the old days.

sorry about second posting but oh well..
from Gold- Song of the Cavarns
Quote:
op112600: This latest opera from Valerius and Cribs is a testament to the superiority of human intellect. Man overcomes nature! Uhhh, my absolute favorite theme!
op212601: I couldn't disagree with you more! This opera is more of a travesty than a testament. The only thing overcome were my poor ears by that horrendous music Cribs has written!
op112602: Huh! You're just miffed because Cribs is fond of tragic endings.
op212603: That's not it at all! Since Valerius took over, we've had to endure this Mr. Cribs and his twisted little operettas with vines and Lycas as villains--What a complete nonsense! How can you stand it?
op112604: Hmm. Well, I say 'in with the new.' That's what I say!
as Gold added a few 'small' refences to T2, this seams like a clear one. Valerius making sure of complete Anti-pagan plays filling the place... Yes, Hammers are anti-pagan but nowhere near as much a Mech's (thus the major problem why viktoria need garrett help, there were getting alot more forcefull in attacking but let's not go onto that big again.). I keep thinking there is a refence to Valerius in Thief 2 but maybe just someone with a simpler name.. i'll have to check though all the files sometime...

Yeah, the Hammers had grown stagnant, and Karras put a stop to that.
From
Undercover, Altar in the chapel:
hm3c1201: Time was, the sinners we take wouldst have no 'second chances'...they were dispatched forthwith to explain their misdeeds to their Builder.
hm2c1202: Our strength and resolve, 'tis not what it once was.
hm3c1203: And see what our weakness hath gained us. Crime and sin reach to the very heights of The City!
From
Cragscleft, at foot of stairs in the Mines:
hm1c1401: Time was all these halls would be close-packed with novices, striving to learn our teachings.
hm3c1402: There are novices still!
hm1c1403: But fewer brother, fewer. Youths in this time seek to learn about gold and politics, not honest craft.
hm3c1404: 'Twill be their loss when they come of age and know not how to accomplish aught of consequence.
From
Undercover, Sparring Room at the bottom of the wide steps:
hm1c0801: Hast thought upon who is likely to succeed our master?
hm3c0802: Surely not for many years....
hm1c0803: Art thou blind? He is old, and the Master Forgers do jostle each other for precedence.
hm3c0804: I spy not on my betters. 'Tis in The Builder's Hands.
hm1c0805: Tis true, 'tis true....
M10NOTIC: "In light of the recent break-in at Cragscleft, all Temple patrols will be doubled until further notice."
VALERIUS:The new plays Lady Valerius and Mr. Ian Cribs are crafting are not quite anti-pagan, as much as controversial and trite, and only those two think it's good material. [BROTHER REGINALD] AND CONANDRA FOREST PRINCESS is a story of forbidden love between the two warring factions. If we say it's a sign of the coming age, then we could say it's insulting to both Hammers and Pagans alike, both of which are going to be dealt two serious blows in TDP/TG and TMA both, but the play is considered garbage.
There's no mention of Valerius in TMA, but there's this from TDS's
MUSguests:"Tuesday
Interesting. Might any of the objects be available for sale? -Lady Valerius"
There's the misspelled mention in the
Thieves' Guild,
m15sdoor: "- Meet with Lady Vallerius for info on Lord B."
In TMA, there is only the female Friend Vilnia, and then there's a Don Valencia. In the TMA Demo, Vilnia was called "Vilnius" and male.
